The US military heard it and didn’t necessarily want to give away capability of listening devices around the sea floor.
The sub was difficult to get to the debris field because it was at an incredibly deep section that few craft are capable of reaching safely.
It was frustrating they made a big deal about something we ultimately could have done nothing about in the first place. However it’s not like the whole “hearing the implosion” thing was something the military wanted to give away and at that depth we have to be careful. Don’t forget we’ve put more people into space than have been to the deepest point on the planet.
It’s a beautiful thing to see my state leading the charge against MAGA. I’m sure a few other western states will join us when we inevitably break off.
Of note, I was just telling my wife while we were out for a drive last weekend how much I’ve seen our state flag appearing on peoples homes now. Before Trump people in California rarely if ever displayed the Cali flag, but now I see it everywhere, especially in neighborhoods that typically didn’t have them before.
Pussy in bio ☝️☝️☝️👅
Last I heard too the cars aren’t autonomous in the tunnel either. They’re driven by real people. The “hyperloop” idea was actually to try and kill the high speed rail project in Cali. Elon is a piece of shit and tried to tank our train, which has helped to extend the project further and increase scrutiny of it.
The cyber truck is a piece of shit. Tesla is an F-tier car maker and Elon can go fuck himself… but like this guy is just being considerate with this. If it’s not meant for walking, and it’s just crossed out due to issues with the building/garage design, then just scoot over a bit to give everyone else some space.
I love how you’re claiming misinformation while posting misinformation. It’s not the CEO, it’s a board member. That said, the company also officially posted these ideas on their Bluesky account.
This isn’t a “CEO” expressing a belief, it’s the board, and now the official company line.
I’m not disagreeing with their post particularly on corporate dems, but this is a company and not a persons sole belief.
Also, if dems are the party of big business then why are all these big businesses donating to Trump? Does that just mean republicans are the party of even bigger business?
Germany just had a sweeping far right election, and Argentina has had a libertarian at the helms for a bit now. A ton of south Asian countries have had hardcore conservative views for a while now, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Canada shifts right next election. There are basically few corners of the earth where populism/right wing ideology isn’t growing and expanding. This isn’t an American education system problem, it’s world wide. The political elites in your country just have you convinced that it’s America that’s now the problem, which then creates a new wave of populism in your country. It’s a self eating snake.
Not that I’m disagreeing that our slapping of allies isn’t problematic. This is just something that is clearly growing everywhere and the people of Lemmy love saying “America bad” as the same exact shit is happening in your country. If you’re an American expand your news beyond our shores. The grass is unfortunately turning to shit everywhere. We’re in for a rough decade together.
Best I can do is drop the taxes on the rich. 👉👈🥺
If I recall from the articles about this event. The pastor, who is black, invited Trump. In a funny twist as well, the former mayor of Detroit (also black) was there to speak about how great Trump is. Which is fine, except that Trump pardoned him at the end of his presidency because the man was convicted and guilty of: Obstruction of justice (x2), assault of a police officer, racketeering, tax evasion, extortion, mail fraud.
However even at the event that Kilpatrick was attending with Trump, while singing his praises, didn’t endorse him.
A cyber truck had a major malfunction and stopped working because it went into a car wash without being in “car wash” mode. The joke is that Cybertrucks cannot get wet.
This is just a citizen on a public sidewalk during normal hours exercising his rights. This is both fucking insane and so fucking stupid that this administration wants to go on this hill where inevitably their supporters will have to accept that they never supported the constitution. Just the parts they personally liked.
I swear the western states need to align a new militia guard that’s designed to help combat this. This is EXACTLY what the Constitution was made for and precisely why the founders made sure we understood what rights were important and how to utilize them.
With Russia leaving. They started this war. Fuck off with your “If there isn’t going to be any peace discussions from Ukraine … how does this ever end?”
Ukraine, and only Ukraine can be the one to talk about any negotiations. I’ll back their decisions whether it’s to fight to the bitter end, or stop and give up. Their people control their destiny. Russia on the other hand is the one that could simply bring an end to this by leaving. They could have brought peace in fact by simply never killing others. You’re victim blaming. Fuck off.
People are acting like this man got conned or like they’re stupid. This was a bribe for a get out of jail free card. If you’re rich and make your money in black market ways this is the best possible decision you can make. Your name is on a list in front of the president even if you didn’t meet him. That means a pardon in the future.
The problem is that for many of the nearly retired folks a job in the government was the promise of a good wage with great benefits and good retirement options. They want it gone because it forced other companies to play catch up in pay and benefits whenever the government could pay better.
It’s also not easy to walk away from a pension program when you’re so invested in it. It’s designed to make people stay long term and put in the work.
We told them there was an increased risk. They don’t need to know how we know or the specifics. They chose not to listen or act, and completely dismissed our advice as nonsense. This is on them.
They’re allowed to freely say whatever they want on their instance, but we don’t have to listen. Y’all view defederation like I’m fucking stabbing Caesar in the back again.
My guy in the bottom right. Just admit you’re gay.
They legalized mushrooms and some other drugs and then (if I recall) made it to where possession wasn’t a crime. Half of Oregon (I imagine you can identify it based on population density) now most likely thinks legalizing drugs means allowing the bad behavior that comes from some of its users. Rather than realizing that alcohol is legal and has bad users as well that cause major harm to our communities but we wouldn’t dare take that away again.
I hope so for Germanys sake. A 9% increase from the last election, for a party that’s 12 years old… that’s pretty sweeping to me. Not to mention that it’s more so the southern parts of Germany that have an even stronger percentage of AfD support.
Again, I’m not wanting a right shift for these countries, but it’s become clear that things are. We could stick our head in the dirt and say it’s only America, but that wouldn’t be true, and that’s what I was getting at with my comment.
