hello! author here. I'm late to this party but, just for good order:
This script is good for desktop, but not great for mobile. If your primary interaction is on a mobile device, probably check the comments for (much) better alternatives.
I can't believe you don't need anything from WEWEQ or GOVEEUOO or QUOPEO. These are household brand names!
seems unlikely (to me) that this would be intentional from reddit's side. You'd think they would be VERY interested to see how this really impacts site traffic and how much "protest" they can absorb before taking administrative action against mods/subreddits.
Hot is somewhat stale at the moment. This is apparently due to the spike in users voting and the subsequent decrease in active users. So posts that garnered a high number of votes are pushing down other, newer posts making those older top posts somewhat sticky.
The recommended trick is to, for now, sort by "New" or "Top Day." Your mileage may vary, obv.
They need people who work well under pressure
I prefer the information density of old.reddit. The wasted space of the default lemmy UI irks me.
But I am also old and crotchety. If the spread out / modern UI of Lemmy (and squabbles.io and tildes and new.reddit) weren't more desirable, they (probably) wouldn't be coded that way.
Here is the script. It's already written, you just need to run it:
Alternatively, there is a browser bookmark that kinda does the same thing: https://feddit.de/post/808717
you can find all sorts of things to customize lemmy over at !plugins@sh.itjust.works or https://sh.itjust.works/c/plugins (shameless plug)
Yeah, this has served as a massive wake-up call to a lot of talented devs. It will ultimately result in more talent choosing to focus on the "alternatives," which is good. It's too bad its happening this way, but the process was never going to be pleasant.
Maybe? I gotta be honest, UX / UI is not my area. I really had to poke around and stretch my CSS knowledge to make this script
damn reddit's in full "burn it down" mode rn
From this thread: https://sh.itjust.works/post/4706
There's this comment: https://sh.itjust.works/comment/30682 which seems to indicate possession of some fairly beefy hardware (supported by a business).
As for the rest... ?
please do not have an emergency at this location
Yeah, so this relies on a browser extension called Tampermonkey (or greasemonkey depending on your browser).
You install the extension, then create a "new script" and paste in the code above. Then save, refresh the page, and Bob's your uncle (or Betty's your aunt)!
Yeah, this sure. But I think primarily Reddit doesn't want its platform to be used to organize and protest. This is how they are setting the stage.
Same. There was a post on the boost subreddit indicating this place, so I expect there will be an influx (eg, me).
heh. I did what all good artists do: I shamelessly stole the idea from somebody else (reddit in this case)
Oops! I took one, then forgot to post it:

Rawe Ceek?
you might get some utility out of this userscript: https://sh.itjust.works/post/70273. check the screenshot and see if it helps scratch that itch...
a new / decent python wrapper for the API now exists (plemmy) - this is the gateway to porting many existing bots to here.
thanks for using Leebra!
