I would like to point out to everyone underestimating Portugal's influence in world politics that, while I agree it hasn't been a military or economic major power in centuries, it has great diplomatic outreach:

  • Part of the EU and has been used as an example of how to handle drug abuse
  • Part of CPLP which seeks to align the interests of all Portuguese speaking countries (in Europe, South America, West and East Africa and Oceania)
  • Vast naval territory in the Atlantic and the Azores which have hosted a US military base for decades
  • Good relations with China especially after the return of Macau
  • The current secretary general of the UN is an old portuguese Prime Minister

So while no longer a major country, it still has sway on how relations between some countries develop

For OP: This is one possible way to handle this situation, but it's not the only reasonable one

The male loneliness epidemic isn't only about the lack of romantic relationships.

It's about a generalized lack of connection between men and other people, a lack of community where they can find support when times get tough and where they can find meaning by helping others.

I'm not too savy on the social context in the far west, but I'd wager that although there was a lack of women the relationships between men would be very strong. Since the environment is hostile to human presence (lack of water, infrastructure, no large settlement or very far apart at least in the beginning) men would need to rely on others for help very often.

Socio-economic models have to do with pretty much everything that happens in a society. They define the preferred end goal of most actions. In feudalism it would be to better expand and defend the territory of your liege, for example.

It's the instance admins' decision whether they want it or not.

Talk to your admins or move to another instance if you disagree with them

Good, but aren't all corporate social media platforms implementing these same dark patterns? Is anyone aware of investigations into Meta or Google platforms?

This is a confusing issue to me.

On one hand I understand the value of the EU to my country's (Portugal) development on the other I take real issue with how the influx of foreign capital has priced out most common workers from buying a house before they're 30/40, which directly impacts one's ability to start a family. Two of our greatest obstacles to wellbeing.

I love some initiatives like the tighter regulation on big tech, but fear the power of a supranational organisation over Portugal's democratic process. An organisation which is perceived as not so democratic.

It's also hot as fuck. I guess the best option is some very light white long sleeve.

Meh, git is distributed by virtue of its design. They could put in a little effort and host their own gitea or gitlab, but it's not the end of the world.

No one said it's unique to that particular system. As I said feudalism would do the same for different reasons

But that doesn't mean it's impossible to have a system that disincentivises harming others and even if it's implemented it doesn't mean no one will be harmed.

It's pretty funny to argue in favour of centralised services in a decentralised platform

Most games on steam are drm-free or have a very weak DRM which is easily removed. Not great, but not the worst.

Lootboxes kinda suck, but at least they only use them for cosmetic items, it's not pay2win, more like pay2lookgood.

About the child gambling... Pretty awful, but I think the ones who should bear most of the blame should be the parents. I have younger family members (not my kids) and their parents couldn't give less of a shit about ensuring they only have access to age appropriate content. Steam has parental controls implemented, USE THEM. Starting to think that allowing kids to access these features (when parental control is available) should be considered some kind of negligence.

Due to the release of some emails sent by Jeffrey Epstein's brother about Trump blowing "Bubba" (a nickname for Bill Clinton), people are making jokes about how Trump was the other lover of Bill Clinton and that the 2016 election was so fiery due to that whole dynamic

Makes a lot of sense. If I (an urban dweller) moved to the middle of nowhere and have to help build up all infrastructure while attempting to (barely) survive, I'd be pretty depressed.
