Been using easyDNS for a long time on important domains. Canadian and no BS.

I manage a self-hosted Zulip instance on a VPS and have been quite impressed overall. The install/updates/maintenance have all gone very smoothly with no real problems over several years across major versions.

When evaluating options, Zulip won because of its unique “topics” feature that helps organize conversations in channels so they are not so fragmented and difficult to follow/find later. It may take some users a little bit to get used to this but it’s worth it IMO. Or you can choose to not use topics and it’s still a good choice for chat with permanent searchable history.

Best to try it out and see how you like it, the install is very painless.

Subsonic is a nice self-hosted solution to stream your own media and there are several phone apps available to access your Subsonic server.

SSH connection/session manager for people who need to keep lots of open connections to different remote devices, like Xshell for Windows. There are options for Linux that come close in functionality but most seem to miss one desired feature like vertical tabs, grouping connections with a one-shot open of all in a group, saving/restoring sessions which keeps all tabs in the same order, sending keystrokes to all tabs in a window, or split panes.

Tabby is the closest I’ve found so far and is pretty nice overall, but it’s missing some functionality and isn’t the snappiest being an Electron app.

I've been running a private instance for about a year as my main search engine and for a few friends. Really great results with the aggregation, simple to maintain, and have only had a couple issues where my IP got rate limited by one engine for a day or so.

So far, nothing at all. The slop has completely overtaken my “recommended” feeds and autoplay with no way to filter it out. I really want to support an alternate like Deezer/Tidal/etc but unfortunately have not yet found a viable replacement for my use case. A large portion of what I listen to is not formally released by labels/distribution, rare live performances, etc that only seem to be on YouTube.
