If I had that kind of money, you'd never hear about me again. I'd just stay quiet and fund a whole lot of charities and scholarships.

The race depicted are notoriously dumb and only achieved space travel by stealing the technology. Don’t think about it too much or you’ll see all the holes in that idea.

I drew the line when my Windows box told me I couldn’t do something even with admin. Kid, you work for ME, not the other way around.

Always preferred Linux over Windows, but I had issues with games on it. I just decided that I wouldn’t play any games that didn’t work. That was a couple of years ago now, and things have only improved since.

My fiance, who is not a technical person, even decided she wanted her new PC to run Linux unprompted, which is a hell of a win for Linux and for me in not having to support a Windows box in the house.

She did such a fantastic job making a character that I absolutely despised. It never once felt like she was acting. I hated her so much that I was concerned that if I met her in person I’d reflexively hate Louise Fletcher instead of Kai Winn just because she felt every bit as real as the actual actress.

I’ve been less and less interested in TV at all. I find myself mostly rewatching the few really good shows from times past and largely ignoring the new stuff. It’s nice to have something to put on while I’m cooking, but if all the streaming services disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

My issue is primarily the poor writing. SNW was the bright spot among the live action new shows, but it really feels like it’s nosediving in terms of writing quality.

I don’t expect new Trek to be the same as 90’s Trek, but it really feels like it’s written by writers who are not all that interested in Trek and just want to make a contemporary drama with a delta on it. Earlier series had a “period piece set in the future” vibe that I really miss.

It’s only damning if there are consequences.

Same. It's frightening that I can actually see that headline being true.

I know which album I’ll be listening to on my commute this morning.

We're not all buying EVs for the environment. I bought an EV because I think the car is cool and it's really enjoyable to drive. It's nice that the "gas" is also significantly cheaper, but that wasn't high on my list of reasons to get the thing, either.

The EV owners I've talked to didn't buy them for the environment, either, but I haven't talked to any Leaf owners or anything. Maybe they're more environmentally conscious. It being better for the environment long term is definitely nice, and I hope progress continues on batteries made with less toxic components.

Thankfully, I did not buy a Tesla and they were never on my list of options because of Elon. So he definitely alienated a customer due to him being an awful human being. I also won't use any of their charging stations, since I don't want them to profit off of me.

I like physical books, so I get the fun of hunting for books through the used bookstore, having them on my bookshelf, then I get to shame myself for my growing backlog of books. Once that’s done, I find reading to be very relaxing.

The teacher is AI, and the student uses AI to answer the questions. It’s just two AI talking to each other with a middleman.

I never vibed with Twitter or Instagram, so I struggled with both Mastodon and Pixelfed. It wasn't until I started looking for content based around my hobbies that Pixelfed really started becoming interesting to me. That, and having the ability to be absolutely deluged in pictures of cats if I need a morale boost. Mastodon is still something that I'm having trouble getting value out of. I may just end up being a Lemmy and Pixelfed user.

What finally pushed me over the edge was when I was trying to fix something in Windows and it said I couldn’t access that part of the OS. Bitch, you work for me, not the other way around. I’ve flopped back and forth between Linux and Windows for decades and just decided that anything I couldn’t do in Linux I just wouldn’t do. So far, I haven’t really encountered anything. With how much of my average computing is done in a browser these days, Firefox doesn’t really care which OS it’s running on.

This is my go-to. I have the old DVDs ripped onto my Plex server so that I can hit shuffle on all the old seasons and just watch episodes at random.

I really hope they put ST in the hands of someone who actually seems to like ST for what it is. I don't think that's what will happen, though.

I’m currently on Pop for the last couple years and I’m really happy with it. Being stuck based on 22.04 is getting a little old, but at least it means no new big bugs (in theory).
