There is actually an ongoing discussion on GitHub about caching/proxy-ing image resources to improve performance and hide user IPs, etc.:
@ruud@lemmy.world Deleting those communities takes one SQL statement and hence less time than creating them, right?
... or it's the federation_worker_count setting which is still too low on lemmy.world?
Though I think increasing this value is no longer required on 0.18.0 instances due to
Which means that upgrading lemmy.world to 0.18.0 would probably solve this isuue, but I can fully understand why lemmy.world waits for Captchas to be restored (hopefully in 0.18.1).
Since I have been playing a Signet Power Reaper Open World Build with Greatsword and Axe+Warhorn on my main for ages, I really enjoyed to add a Celestial Harbinger Open World Build with Staff and Pistol+Focus to my arsenal. I love how different those specs play.
Also my Reveneant which I used to play as a Celsetial Renegade with Shortbow now has a Power Vindicator Build with Greatsword as an alternative which also plays very differently. I guess, I like variety (as in I decide to try something new and not ArenaNet changes stuff that wasn't broken).
As for the Upcoming Balance Changes ... I really hope that they reconsider some of the changes, e. g. Scourge.
Power Reaper is ridiculously strong in Open World, but I think that Necromancers kinda earned the right to have such a strong build. I played a Necromancer "Main" (I'm an Altoholic) from launch and I still remember the days when we were kicked from Dungeon Groups, because we were considered to be dead weight.
Captchas have been restored by a PR shortly before release and almost immediately been removed again by reverting the PR. The PR author has been asked to re-create his PR and then 0.18.0 got released without Captchas.
I'd suggest to (ab)use playlists for the GW2 Original Sound Tracks (OST) on YouTube and listen/skip your way through it, until you find what you want. Here are 2 (+1) playlists to get you started:
Bonus GW1 Playlist
Note: There are places in GW2 where the game actually plays music from GW1
Luckily or sadly (depending on how you see it) most cosmetic armor from the gem store are outfits and not separate pieces which can be mixed and matched. None of my 18 characters is wearing an outfit and none wears a complete set of a particular armor.
You may be right there. On the other hand splitting the Twitter user base between two commercial platforms is probably still better than everyone being on Twitter.
I'm beginning to wonder, if Threads is actually going to connect to the Fediverse or rather which kind of evil restrictions Meta is planning to apply. I mean, if people who are using Mastodon could follow and interact with their friends and celebrities on Threads, there would be no reason at all to have an Instagram account and/or to use any of Zuckerberg's intrusive apps.
My guess is that Meta/Threads will only allow their users to access and interact with Federated content but not the other way which will most likely lead to most Mastodon instances deferating from Meta at once.
Looking forward to having a lot of popcorn 🍿 ...
I was tracking the Race for Captchas in 0.18.0 and I'm pretty surprised how it went in the end.
My build is very similar to the Celestial Harbinger Open World Build on GuildJen. I'm running Focus instead of Warhorn and I have slightly adjusted the traits:

@meldrik@lemmy.wtf Maybe we should pin one of the Secrets of the Obscure posts (suggestion: this one here) and assemble our combined feedback in one place instead of creating 10++ posts many of them actually referring to the same topic or even the same link.

GW2 generally does not support Addons/Mods as you might know them from WoW or ESO. There are a few that are kinda tolerated (see Sidebar/Addons).
As for lack of direction, the game heavily rewards exploration, i. e. almost eveything you do (even gathering materials) grants experience and leads to your character leveling up and getting more abilities.
So my suggestion is to go to zones with a level range (shown on the world map) around your character's level and it explore them, i. e. unlock Waypoints, visit POIs and Vistas, do Renown Hearts and last but not least engage in Events popping up near you.
Every 10 levels you are prompted (by in-game mail) to progress your Personal Story which will take you to zones you may or may not have explored yet.
I really like Fraggles, but there are just too many or rather I'm playing them not frequently enough that I often have a hard time remembering the mechanics. Luckily in lower tiers (1 & 2) people are rather forgiving and even explain stuff to scrubs like me. 🙂

Not sure how I feel about this. Another system coming to the game (did anybody ask for this?) and it does not seem like ArenaNet has fully thought it through one month before it goes live.
I was hoping for a change that makes gearing for different/multiple builds more accessible.
thanks for using Leebra!
