Anyone who wants to switch to Linux we welcome you with open arms. Ask as many questions as you need. There are no stupid questions just bad answers. (You probably know the type)

If you can't switch, that's ok. Alot of us know what it's like, especially us gamers, Nvidia card owners, and recovering adobe-holics. Life is tougher but a whole lot more rewarding. I moved from windows/Macos and I wouldn't give it up for anything.

For anyone curious. I plan to avoid this, I'm already good enough to be useful but unreliable enough that none wants to bet their house on me.

Valve is trying to escape Microsoft's monopolistic practices with Linux while out performing their competition in a fair market. I like competition but I don't get what advantage steam has that their competition doesn't. Even with the steam deck they're using standardized hardware and open source software to make a competitive product leaving room for competition to create their own versions.

There one glaring issue. Most people don't really even know what an operating system is and some of the people I talk to think Linux is a manufacture.

I literally bring up Linux to my friend when they are having trouble getting windows to work and they say I think I have a linux. They mean it's a Lenovo but they seem pretty confused about the idea of installing a different OS on their machine. This isn't just older people but 20 something year olds (about my age).

It's funny to me but I try to be patient and help them with their problems anyway.

My household is a Microsoft free environment. There is no place for the royal we in this conversation.

I have a lot of respect for Biden. It takes a lot to admit that you might not be fit to serve anymore after listening to his peers, the public, and doctors and deciding to step down. I would have voted for him anyway, but it's rare to see someone forfeit their position like that.

It won't really change my party vote, but I guess I have some reading to do in the next few weeks.

To be fair most applications don't give you shit till you launch it in a terminal. That's something I'd wish would improve on Linux. My mother would get pretty frustrated so I assume most average people would be too.

For example lutris recognizes your missing wine but it just loads indefinitely.

If you don't have all the dependencies for alacrity it just doesn't launch.

If you don't have all the dependencies for gparted on Wayland it just doesn't launch.

Most apps don't create error messages in the gui and that's hard for average users to grasp.

It wouldn't hurt my pride at all. Then again I never cared about proving how manly I was in such a childish way.

It's just a young adult miss managing their community as they learn how to run a big project for the first time.

We all made asses out of our selves when we were young and most of us have outgrown it.

Jokes on Nintendo, my next handheld is most likely still going to be a steam deck (clone?). The only difference now is I won't buy a physical game and emulate their games on it by (downloading) a backup.

I'm not proud of it but I've pirated games when I was a kid, but I bought every game I pirated if I could get it on modern hardware. Even the mediocre games like Minecraft.

It's tempting as a kid when your parents gets you an Xbox but never got any games for it, eventually you wanna play more than demos. They got duke nukem forever with the xbox and as a kid I preferred the pack in game of Kinect adventures over it.

iOS apps generally require a $100 yearly fee to post to the app store and if they submitted a waiver as a nonprofit apple would probably take years to accept it.

Also apple has a tendency to quietly kill and/or stall small apps that pose a threat to features they incorporate into their os from what I've heard.

You delete each set of letter from least significant to most significant with $ replacing each letter and the title tag saying where's my money. If all letters disappear swap the entire website with space jam website and this gif.
