@phenomlab Oh jeez, I hope it does not come to that. One thing that helps is let them sign up all day long but moderate the posts. However, it would be nice to have some other way to control even those endless signups. Gotta find a solution. Since the early days of forums, this has been a big problem.

We need our own askimet type thing where we pool known spam signups and other knowledge that nodebb uses to help anyone running it.

Yes, I changed the name/url in the config file along with on the back end of course. I also deleted the old logo and uploaded the new one but the logo in emails remains broken with the name of the previous site still in the url.

I searched the DB and tries to hard code the new url but that didn't work for emails at least. I searched all of the files to be safe and find nothing for the old url so I don't know where this is coming from.

Not sure what else to look at which is why I posted.

Does no one peruse these forums anymore? :)

I also changed the name of the forums and now emails are showing up with a broken logo. I updated the logo in General settings so what is the email using that still points to the previous domain which is now down? I've searched everything but the database and cannot find anything that points to the old domain.

Yes, dead army for sure :).

The thing is, it's been a problem since the early days of forums and it's never been really solved. By invite only is not, in my case at least, a good option. My method is, let them sign up all they want. If they have not posted in 30 days, delete the accounts. I'll automate that soon if that doesn't already exist and the only thing that will help is keeping the bulk of it out of the DB at least.

BUT, that might then cause the problem is spammers needing to be moderated all day long. Really not sure how to win.
