You can make any smart TV dumb. Just disable the network on it and use your own streaming device (Roku, Chromecast, Fire TV, etc.).

cheap sin

Funny, but nothing is cheap in Vegas. I'm surprised the sidewalks don't charge for admission.

If they would let me just specifically pay for ad-free YouTube at a reasonable price, instead of lumping it in with a bunch of shit I don't use and am not interested in, I would happily pay.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is Kbin just another Lemmy instance or a whole separate thing entirely?

Thanks for the guide!

And the Reddit blackout hasn't even started yet. Gonna be interesting to see what this place looks like a week from now. I'm excited!

Good thing that penis is pixelated, wouldn't want to be too suggestive. 😹

Actually, the web UI works/renders surprisingly well in mobile Safari on iOS, so I'll be sticking with that for now.

It works with any federated Lemmy server, of which I think there's over a thousand, now.

Lol, yes, I realize I am showing my age and that is a very old term that isn't widely used anymore, but it doesn't detract from the point I was making. Just because it's very common to be rude online doesn't mean we shouldn't at least attempt to be less so.

It does appear to be working fine after a reinstall, thanks!

If you don’t like atheist memes, why are you taking time out of your day to stop and comment in a Lemmy instance literally called ā€œatheistmemesā€? Slow day at work? Here's a tip: There's probably plenty of Lemmy communities you have no interest in, and some you may even actively dislike, so when you come across a post like that in your feed, you can totally just keep scrolling! Try it out sometime, it isn't hard at all! Better yet, you can simply not subscribe to it, and only show communities you're subscribed to in your feed! Cheers!

Meh, I eventually switched from Roku (which has ads on the home screen) to Fire TV because SmartTubeNext isn't available on Roku, plus the 4k version of the Fire TV was on sale dirt cheap. The Fire TV also has ads on the home screen, but I'm only ever on the home screen for however long it takes (1 or 2 seconds) to open one of my streaming apps, none of which have ads.

What does the fact that it's public have to do with anything? It's just basic netiquette. For example, I don't care about My Little Pony, so you will never see me going into !mylittlepony@lemmy.ml, or whatever, and saying something like, "My Little Pony sucks... See ya, guys!"
