I have no idea; this is experimental. I saw some in a shop and decided to try making one.
Edit: it does seem to drain more slowly, but I'm not sure if that's because it has less area than the paper filter or because it's a tighter weave.
An apartment complex that I would convert into some kind of nonprofit cohousing community with low rent, community spaces, and tons of solar panels. After that, maybe a gaming pc or a newer plugin hybrid car.
I started listening to the Magnus Archives again (started but never finished) while I work on various sewing projects.
I made a cloth coffee filter out of unbleached muslin and cotton thread over the weekend. I got the idea from coffeesock filters. They're so damn pricy! $17 for one at a local store! I already had the thread from an old project, and it only cost $5 for enough fabric to make at least a few filters. Today or tomorrow I've gotta make some cold brew concentrate to try out the filter.
"Bloated" lmao. I don't think there's a single school district in the US that has sufficient funding
0/10. Horrible.
Women are criticized no matter what decisions they make. This is a way that patriarchy reinforces itself.
Edit: relevant essay: https://www.sevanoland.com/...
And also: capitalism is failing the majority of people by continuing to funnel wealth to those who already have money. Voters are offered a choice between two options, neither of which actually want to solve this, because both major parties are controlled by wealthy corporate donors. The two-party system prevents any third party, no matter their platform, from having any chance at election.
Democratic socialist candidates got elected in NY because Mamdani is demonstrably helping people in actual, tangible ways. The most famous example is fixing potholes. This is a breath of fresh air for voter and is the same "sewer socialism" strategy used in the first half of the 1900s in wisconsin, which focused on pragmatically improving life for the general public...famously by improving the sewer system.
Bro didn't miss improv class
Unironically why I embraced activism. Will I create meaningful change to this hellish timeline? No. However, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't try.
I have a relative who has been on medicaid on and off who "doesn't pay attention to politics". I frequently explain current events to them- like efforts to cut medicaid that may cause them to lose their coverage.
The obliviousness (or complacency, in many cases) of some people is unbelievable.
Being autistic is like everyone's playing a game, but 1) nobody will tell you the rules and 2) the rules keep changing
Does this. Does this actually harm the stuffed animals? Some mattresses and pillows are sold vacuum-packed but they fluff up after a bit.
Oh, definitely. The DSA-backed candidates won against a lot of corporate donor spending: https://nysfocus.com/...
Fundamental rights
I was homeschooled. Never went to public school. And my parents were christians, so naturally they bought christian apologetic textbooks.
One science (biology I think, high school level) textbook had most of a chapter discussing why the "theory of evolution" was "wrong". Another book from the same publisher discussed at length why global warming (and the ozone-thinning effect of certain chemicals) was untrue.
My chemistry professor in college, wonderful man that he was, was the first person to explain divergent and convergent evolution to me.
I hate this!!! I literally just wrote a comment on another thread about this. This was the impetus for me learning to sew (sorry if this is tmi) underwear. I had avoided it before because working with elastics and stretchy fabric is more difficult than non-stretchy fabrics.
You should learn to sew and make your own shorts! No I'm definitely not saying this because I love sewing and think everyone should know how to do it /s.
It won't be easy, even if you already sew: pants are shaped weirdly. They're basically two cylinders joined at the top, right? Except you also have to accommodate your...uh...rear. And also you have to have them shaped in such a way that you can move your legs eithout them tearing. But you don't want them to be too baggy and have bits of fabric jutting out weirdly when you're standing. It's the same problem that you have with sleeves.
I mean. This is framed as humor but a lot of people genuinely think this way. Derogatory terms for women aside, if you're not happy by yourself you're not going to be happy with a partner. Unfortunately this is the sort of thing you need to understand on your own and internalize because the kneejerk reaction to someone telling you this tends to be "having a girlfriend/boyfriend/partner actually would make me happier"
It was definitely a factor is me going from "vaguely right-wing because my parents are" to "democrats aren't left enough".
Copied and pasted from Francesca Hong's policy platform page: We’re going to make sure nobody goes to sleep cold, and that renter protections are consistently enforced. As governor, Rep. Hong will use her executive authority to bolster rental unit regulations, pursue aggressive regulation of slumlords and serial housing-law violators, and make it easier for tenants to flag issues and find support.
Ctrl+F for "housing" here: https://francescahong.com/policy/
This would be a relief. Yes, I am autistic, why do you ask?
Picture it: "hi I'm Hedgehog what's your favorite dinosaur? My favorite dinosaur is parasaurolophus"
Unfortunately now I'm an adult and asking people about their favorite dinosaurs marks me as weird, which in the workplace is not good.
