Poland, Romania, Finland, the Baltics (if I'm not mistaken) - they all suffered the effects of that "non-agression"

@zaxvenz One of the few moments I'm proud of my country. Probably the annulment of elections last autumn here made other European countries aware that not anyone can run for a public office if they act against democracy. We also had another candidate that was barred from entry two times, but that one was more prominent than Călin-Russian-wisdom-Georgescu.

@ForgottenFlux such a great feature. Will definitely use it next time I'm bombing some Houthi rebels.

@Kuro I came across this post from the federated feed and I was unsure why there was a post telling Jerboa to die. Then I realised I was reading a post in German, lol.

@zaxvenz kinda common among European conservatives. They all act like everything's business as usual and we can still rely on the US and the West still has a collective voice. Here in Romania basically everyone is interpreting the White House administration's policies as a good thing (edit: or at least fairly justified). They'll be in for a surprise in the next 4 years.

@0x815 I always when I see news like this I sit and think whether in a similar situation it would be worth risking my life, my integrity, my career etc. just to make a statement against the government.

I don't think I could resist after some point.

I have huge respect for such people!

@Enkrod I see where you are going, but Eastern Europe generally has a lot to go in order to get inclusion right. Like, right now, one of the two larger far right parties in here (yes, we have two and we sent them both to Brussels) are heavily promoting an initiative to add into constitution the fact that a family can only be composed of a man and a woman, as well as the right to pay with cash (yes, I know how crazy that sounds, it doesn't matter what happens in reality). And we're already in both the EU and NATO.

[...] and Android is worse off for it

Hard disagree!

The only damage the whole Nova Launcher thing does is mostly sentimental. Nowadays, there are plenty of launchers to choose from, all with some great degrees of customizability. Here are my top picks:

  • Kvaesitso - my current pick. It's not the most flexible on this list, but I generally find more and more ways I could integrate it in my personal life. And the font pick is just great.
  • Lucid Launcher - another top pick of mine that is not relied on AOSP. Goes more like a vertical scroll than a horizontal one. Used it on my tablet for as long as it lived, almost.
  • KISS Launcher - If you want to Keep It Simple, Stupid. It's all just a search bar. That's it. Search for everything you need and when you're done, you're done.
  • Niagara Launcher - also minimalist, but more functional. Didn't really get the hang of it just yet, not sure if I will. Kvaesitso is quite cool.
  • AIO Launcher - let's just call it the best strike between minimalist and functional, ok?
  • Lens launcher - for when you want to be so minimalist you put all your apps on the home screen
  • ap15 launcher - same as Lens but there are only labels instead of icons
  • Total launcher - goes the opposite way. Probably the most customizable on this list. Really great once you get the hang of it.
  • Square home - if you used a Windows phone, you know what this is about. If you did not, you will know (alternative implementation, Mur)
  • Microsoft Launcher - as the name implies, it's Microsoft's current attempt at a phone launcher. Really useful, especially if you are invested in Microsoft's ecosystem.
  • Plus there are plenty more others that I didn't get to test really much, such as Smart launcher, Action launcher, hyperion etc. However, the most hyped in this thread seems to be Lawnchair. Looks like it follows Nova the closest among the open source picks.

Really, there's no point in worrying about this. I'm also sad to see Nova go, especially since it was that popular. But there's that. The launcher landscape is the one I worry the less in Android.

Until almost 2 months ago, the USA wasn't the bootlicker of Putler that it is today. It was easier for Europe to buy stuff from the greatest power out there than to spend the money to develop the things in-house. American companies had both the technology and the capacity to produce whatever we needed, and depending on them did not pose any danger.

@0x815 at this point no one willing to live a civilized life (i.e. in the city and just about any sort of settlement) has any reason to stay in Russia whatsoever. There's no point in living like a fugitive, like some sort of a criminal just to avoid drafting.

It's sad that it happens this way though.

First the USSR crushed Poland, then the Baltics (the last one still in one piece in the pic is Lithuania), then it's Romania. Then you know which ball is the big blue one, then all previously crushed states join NATO, then in the last pic the ball in the right is Russia.
