Considering what Google did to the jabber protocol, we can all be glad they gave up, IMO.

Agree-ish. It needs the ability to open and display common link types, videos, images, etc.

RiF had an ok system for decisions about what to try and open/display.

For example, I prefer YouTube to open in NewPipe rather than an in app browser, but that might be different for you.

Happy to hear it

Something like 12 years I used Reddit, but they really nailed the coffin lid shut now.

Its better we stop depending on the single points of failure anyway. The psychopaths will always do whatever they want in the name of the shareholder - even when its not true.

They don't even do anything - simple is better.

Using the Reddit app... like from Reddit? those animals.

RiF for life. :-)

Because of their contractor status they may not have any grounds to do so. Looks real shitty though for sure.

Haaahahahahahahahahahahah. /crying; Good joke, now tell me another one.

Anyone that has a production postgres deployment. For backups.

The game has only one bug - it crashes at the start screen after displaying "Starfield by Bethesda" - the other 200GB it downloads are just random bytes from /dev/random.

And LG - they are both hot garbage.

I got one Samsung TV for free for one reason or another -- it never really worked properly because all its spyware shit kept tripping up on my custom DNS server.

True - their TV and monitors are good - I was talking specifically about their washing/drying/fridge.

Just that you support the lemmy community.

Especially with Jerboa already in place, its IMO a good switch.

The one thing that worries me is all that useful info trapped on Reddit, if Lemmy data expires then that has a long term cost/loss which is sad.

100% fresh

Welcome. I personally found it necessary because YouTube's algo kept giving mostly QOP nazi propaganda starting back in 2016.

Damn straight - they can take my NewPipe from my cold dead hands :-)

Indeed, Reddit half died for me when they did the redesign, and I only used RiF after that, now its just dead to me.
