I randomly stumbled upon something called "Solidary agriculture" yesterday. People come together, pay a monthly price to keep a farm running. This makes the farm independent from draughts, bad harvests etc. In return for the money you get fresh produce throughout the year, no price fluctuations, you always get what was produced. Sometimes more sometimes less. If this isn't Solarpunk I don't know what is. It's pretty easy as well, provided there is an initiative like that in your area.

I feel like this is so true. I have traveled both ways and some trips, usually the ones where I had lots of time and no money have really changed me and my perspective on things. But it's quite hard to do this kind of travel under capitalism lol when you only have so many leave days and need to desperately recover from the work stress.

I am also interested in sewing. Sometimes I buy second hand stuff online and then it doesn't quite fit. If you can just change it yourself that would be awesome. Or just make your own from scratch. But I don't have a sewing machine and don't want to buy one because I am not sure I will stick with it.

From my experience it's usually meat eaters starting it by commenting on what you are eating when you are just trying to enjoy your food in peace lol

With limited space I am growing some plants on my balcony. Decided to harvest and dry the herbs so I have supply during the winter. I want to make my own herb tea blend as well, let's see how that goes. Also decided to get of the streaming sites and have my own server at home. I calculated the energy price and it will be cheaper for me. This at least saves energy during streaming because traffic doesn't go through 10 routers on the way to my device. And I am on a renewable energy plan.

I would really like to do this but I am super paranoid about making stuff in my home accessible from the internet heh.

Good to know! I translated from German, here it is called "Solidarische Landwirtschaft"

Sounds like a great idea, I was kind of looking for something like that here on lemmy though. Not sure if it would make sense to discuss books in the comments, or if that is a bad format for that.

Added to my reading list.

I think that's a great idea, how did you get started?

I kind of thought since I don't have a fixed IP address this wouldn't work but with IPv6 this should not be an issue actually. I will do some testing :)

Oh I will look into all of these! just last week I "fixed" a pocket book my boss lent me and that unfortunately looked a little rugged after coming on vacation with me. Painted over all the little cracks in the cover and it actually looked quite decent again afterwards. It did have a Little water damage though that I didn't know what to do about. It was a cheap book and not even a good one so I kind of hoped he'd forget about it but nope lol. So far have not received a comment on the books state so I think I did an ok enough Job. Paperback to hardcover also seems interesting, so you can design a custom cover for your favorite book. Or as a gift? So many possibilities!

I heard about both for the first time, but from what I have read now it's probably the german equivalent to CSA.

Awesome, let's make this happen!

Hahaha indeed!

Awesome will have a look!

Oh that sounds great, I will definitely check it out then!

Another reason to love the kelp forest.

I read foxhunt but somehow didn't enjoy it thaaat much. I never quite figured out what the main character was up to. She's kind of morally grey I would say which is interesting but the motives confused me so much. While the world is kind of solar punk ish it's not very well explained how things work. There seems to be no government but then some cities govern themselves. Then there is some vigilante kind of people who run around killing people. Did they seize power themselves? Were they appointed to do that? I have so many questions. Did anyone read this and has some thoughts?
