Non-American just double-checking I’ve got his right…

Private citizen makes actionable credible threat to unlawfully detain legislators, legislators choose to do nothing for about half a year before slowly murmuring without specifics other than “yeah he said it” and “I think he means us”.

You OK USA? Just checking in.

Gee, however long ago could we have foreseen that Trump would have just the worst takes when it comes to first responders and 9/11.

Washington Post: On 9/11, Trump pointed out he now had the tallest building in Lower Manhattan. He didn’t.

Right. Publicly, since literally 9/11.

I guess it must have been too late for them to possibly know, when he already had the shittiest take possible the day it happened, a quarter century ago.

I'm thinking he might be happier with Noridian, ZephyrOS, Sylvanix, or AetherForge.

I myself have been trying neoNova, specTRAos, and VortexLinux and they're all pretty good.

...

All of these are made up, I think, I just can't cope with everybody and their dog still rolling their own distros (and alternatives to GNOME 3, thank goodness for KDE), even after 25 years of observing it happen over and over again.

Reminds me of Education Queensland's approach to creating usernames. First letter of the first name, first four letters of the surname. Followed by a sequential number.

I nearly lost it when I saw a staff member by the name of something like Sharon Laverton (names slightly anonymised, but odds are someone else by that name exists) have an email that not only started slave, but also ended with a number for that final dehumanising touch. slave384@eq.edu.au.

And then try DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth that'll get rid of the 9GB file for sure. If not, reinstall everything again and again and again.

Also, looking past that spelling mistake, what the hell is a War Room White House? Is that meant to refer to the situation room? The briefing room? Is it that she's in two places at once, the White House and a virtual War Room of whatever media organisation she represents?

Or is it, as I may be forced to suspect, a perpetual state of mind, a designation not in conflict of course with any of the above, but indicative of someone who not only cannot spell their job but is just there to, as the phrase goes, perpetually and obsequiously stir shit?

How about this: anything over said wealth cap is automatically used to fund education, health initiatives, as well as fight poverty and homelessness.

Honestly, I agree with the top comment, and is already implied by the top comment with the 100% tax. If they want to cash it out (before that assessment, or when they're close to it) and burn it in a big pile instead of giving it to anybody in tax or charity, let them do it. It'll still have a positive effect through deflation.

All politicians must pay for their own health insurance.

lol, no. Everybody gets free health insurance. The end. That's the way to go on that.

The guy must be a an absolute fucking scumbag.

aka the main Trump administration job requirement.

Sure, it feels wrong to joke about it, but given Trump and a substantial portion of his cabinet has a history of abuse as well, significantly more so than the average population or current administration, it is by no means only a joke.

this race...

this race?

The past three Republican presidents saw a job growth of 1 million, the past three Democratic presidents 51 million. Now sure, the president doesn't define every aspect of the economy, but my god that big a discrepancy is not accidental. As someone not from America, I don't understand why this race is so close, but why any race involving the Republicans, even outside of Trump, would be. I'll consider Romney an exception though, but he doesn't seem representative of the Republican Party before or after him.

The whole thing read to me like a Seinfeld episode - Kramer accidentally kills a whale off the coast of New York, and with the show having made dozens of Kennedy references, hearing of a Kennedy dumping a bear in Central Park would fit right in.

So this doesn't feel even like an own to anyone, more like a parody, a comedy. And in the context of it actually happening 1. in the setting of probably the most famous one, 2. with a character from the exact family they've referenced many times over and 3. with the same type of bizarre things happening to wildlife one of which has been one of the most famous episodes.

To me, as a lib, it feels like the best Seinfeld/Curb Your Enthusiasm episode that's never been written.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the story even came out because he told it to Roseanne Barr, writer of most popular sitcom just prior to Seinfeld, notwithstanding her interminable slide, with her just staring at him incredulously throughout, the whole thing feeling like a Curb Your Enthusiasm scene. Honestly, at this point Larry David is definitely thinking to himself that he could never have written anything this Larry David.

Edit 2: I completely forgot that his, Larry David's, wife in Curb Your Enthusiasm is RFK Jr.'s actual wife. At this point I'm about 80% sure that multiple Seinfeld and/or Curb episodes were actually just Kennedy misadventures in disguise.

OK, here goes nothing, going to receive a roasting... TSMC is booked out to high heaven, Nvidia is completely in control of anything AI with no other company coming close to touching them, and at the end of the day, this is all but 1 month in the economy while most P/E for your average business even is near 15 or 20, corresponding to about 200 months. Cisco didn't have a moat worth a dime and households didn't even have always-on Internet back then, while Nvidia gets to basically set their price. Sure, AI isn't turning out to be a great source of profit for AI providers, but Nvidia sells the shovels, not the gold or stakes of land.

Sure 11% is excessive, but I can't see it drop like a rock any time soon. Because even if AI bursts like a bubble they are still the best at computer graphics by some margin as well, they'll still be the best at parallel computation. And if that fails, they're the best at making games do things, they know how to build computers and mobile devices, etc., etc. They made the Nintendo Switch for crying out loud and an RTX in my PC that I haven't used for anything AI in ages. They'll be fine.

And one other thing, their P/E ratio was well above 100 a bit more than a year ago. It's at like 60 now? And the market cap doesn't really count for anything, I mean VW was the most valuable company in the world during a short squeeze. Cisco's P/E was apparently 200 at one point.

Ah, yes, if only there was some Illinois politician close to Obama who had been associated with crimes similar to those of Trump, who had been absolutely and unambiguously disavowed by Democrats and imagine then also if only he had some type of relationship despite all that with Trump, who would also pardon him or something after his criminal conviction, making your comment like one big giant case of projection.

lol, that would just be silly wouldn’t it.

…

It would be just way too coincidental and spot on for words.

Which will never happen because the Republicans are dead set on never changing any system in any way that's not directly in their benefit and no one else's. Until that moment arrives, which is never, the only option is to pick your particular flavour of straight-up fascism (Republicans these days) or anything else (Democrats) in the party primaries.

It's really a situation that ought to resolve itself. If the justices vote anything as an official act is perfectly legal, then threaten those justices that voted that way with violence, assassination, nothing is off the table apparently as long as it's an official act, and reverse that decision with the remaining justices, done and dusted.

I really don't see the problem here. It's all been declared perfectly legal, nothing is off the table, it sends a strong message that this democracy will be maintained by whatever means necessary, and that as long as the president is Democrat at least, then any attempt at an all powerful king or Führer will automatically undo itself. An abrogation of power done through wielding that very power itself would be a beautiful thing to behold.

In fact, the Supreme Court justices would make a better target than Trump himself even. Trump is a political rival and it could be argued that it's Biden supporting the election of a candidate from his own party. Meanwhile targetting the Supreme Court justices would be defending basic democracy, fighting for the freedom from a despotic tyrant - the very supposed foundation of the country we're talking about, changing the composition of the Supreme Court and weakening the powers of the presidency itself, which definitely sounds like official acts rather than those of a candidate or private individual.

And to avoid that, all they have to do is became big damn heroes by giving their money in charity, or tax, or fund a research lab or whatever way of throwing their money back out there that they choose.

Astounding that they'd find it so detestable that they'd rather risk death in the hands of a class revolution than see their money feed kids or cure cancer or whatnot.
