Gee, take your pick: you have the bad rebranding, the yanking and cancellation of some of their best shows (seriously, Westworld? You owned it!), cancelling already completed movies (Batgirl) or raising the price and removing 4k as a default among other things.

I thought musk was doing a Speedrun on how to kill a company but didn't realize he had competition.

I'm fully behind the moderators and read their well crafted response, but the admins are going to nitpick the definition of "sudden" and kick out all the mods. /r/pics was one of their highest ad revenue boards and they can't let that happen.

Control is another thing. I can't tell you the amount of execs I've heard say "they're losing control of their company" or "I don't feel I have the same control over my people". It's crazy that they think that. What do they think the past 3 years have been when they've gotten record profits "oh, but our profits would be even better if we had people back in the office". Sadly no amount of data will override the entrepreneurial "it could always be more" what if that they throw out.

Ah Slackware, the first time that I learned software could damage hardware. It has the option to also configure hsync on your CRT monitor, and if said monitor didn't correctly validate the range it would permanently fuck it up.

Ironically Sync can block entire instances.

Doesn't work when you don't type it out correctly. It's interpreting the "m" as million and "in" as inches. Use "m to ft" to get it every time

I live dangerously. I have it set to show NSFW and to not blur it in my feed. Give me all of Lemmy unfiltered.

Easy to confuse stupidity with malice. They're chasing one thing and one thing only: the almighty dollar. Look at it through that lens and their actions make sense. For the rest of us though, that's just stupid.

I often times wonder if an extraterrestrial threat would be a unifying factor or if people would still be selfish unless it affected them. The pandemic was the closest we've seen to a world level threat recently and it just increased selfishness IMO (at least in the US)

Just start posting screenshots of the sexually explicit parts of the game and see how Reddit responds about taking away NSFW status.

Saw this in a news article: The monthly principal payments on a $1M note at 3% is equal to the monthly payments of a $500,000 note at 9%.

So a 6% jump in interest rate effectively halves your buying power. Of course people aren't going to sell their houses if they don't have to.

Edit: got my percentages 1 point off.

Ask them if they'd be willing to adopt the Euro and allow access to the Schengen zone and I'm curious if that number would still be the same. I don't think Brits realize they're not gonna get the sweetheart deal they used to have.

For a split second I thought this was for Sync and went to search for it on the store.

I was looking for someone with your view to ask. Why is holding on to the Pound such a big hurdle? Which would you rather accept: the Euro and Schengen zone, or the continued decline of your country through post-Brexit policies and outcomes?

Got news for you. 4 months is on the short side. Any place that processes credit card or other transactional data will most likely keep it around 13 months if not longer. And yes you guys can quote "well actually it's not required", no, no it's not, but I've worked with enough companies to know they hoover and keep IP, user agent string ,etc for quite a while.

That's a problem when you have one group trying to do what is remotely morally right and another who doesn't care and wants to "win" at any cost.
