What I find interesting is it seems like we are again converging on the same service as cable. Which suggests that the best method of profiting off watching movies/tv at home is to have ad supported entertainment, with a monthly fee.

Once again, the profit motive ruins something good .

That would require reading Marx lol. These hot takes usually come from reactionaries mimicking what they hear from other reactionaries/charlatans/media towing the stateline. Marx was wrong about some things of course, like the revolutions to a democratically worker owned economy would come from the industrialized centres. But knowing about the ideas which are critical of our current economic system is dangerous to a few, and freeing to the majority.

No one should have veto power, it makes any organization extremely undemocratic. And given the American arsenal, it's already difficult to be democratic.

Exactly. It's how you make your money, not how much you make.

I think it's better to think of it like this:

How do you make your money? Do you need to make a wage? Or can you let your property (land, buildings, stocks, etc.) be your income?

The real amount doesn't matter, it's whether you have to work to live or not.

If you have to work, you are the working class. If you don't, you are the owner/capitalist class. But your analysis is still somewhat correct: millionaires and small business owners are closer to the working class than billionaires, it does still matter how they make it though.

No.

Them: "Gee things are getting bad.... The last time the poor were this bad off heads started rolling.... How did we avoid that? Ohh yeah! Concessions! What if we SAY we want to give them concessions, and then tell the government not to? That should work!"

You might not, but the majority of people who know what neoliberalism is would.

I think you mean Communist Dictatorship ™

This message was brought to you by the United States government, and Sugar Daddy Sugar Plantations "We've never forgiven the Cubans for refusing to be our slaves!"

The problem with these counts is there is no way of making them look good, like lives saved due to "x". How many people lived because the Soviets managed to eliminate all famines in their territory after that? A huge feat given their relative frequency beforehand.

And then you can blame countless deaths on capitalism, feudalism, slavery, but then do you normalize those numbers based on total world population?

What about blaming AK-47s? The police?

My point is that it's a pointless metric that is only used to drum up support against some group of people, not a useful one for objectively understanding anything. It does away with all context, and replaces it with some inane number.

The criticisms are also that companies use slavery to acquire the materials to make EVs. And they don't work well in the cold (see current cold snap in Canada), the lifetime of the batteries aren't great, and we still need to destroy huge swaths of land to create cars, park/store cars, and drive cars.

EVs are only going to save the car industry. To fix it requires a redesign of cities (see Strongtowns, not justbikes, city beautiful, etc.).

The dictator of the proletariat isn't one guy. It's the group of people who work. As opposed to now where most countries are a dictatorship of the wealthy.

It literally means the workers (like you and I) dictating the rules. If you're a commie it means democratically. Who dictates the rules now? The wealthy.

Red scare propaganda is so exhausting...

That's fair, it hurts when your slaves are taken away lol.

It's crazy that a single state has that much international sway though.

Though to be fair, DPRK is the way it is at least in part thanks to the Americans obliterating their cities and farm land. But we can ignore history to make a "I used to be in a communist country and it's bad, trust me bro" statement.

And I agree, I prefer to live in a system where prisoners aren't primarily minorities or political prisoners. And where the prison system isn't the most populated in the world, and rife with for-profit forced labour.

I would also be curious to hear which definition of "capitalism" and "Communism" you are using. That is, if you are open to dialogue.
