I really hate having the taskbar permanently affixed to the bottom of my screen. I've had it on the left side for decades now. They are really throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Someone at Microsoft "Customization is the enemy of progress!"

Steam users are the base everyone desires to get to but no one wants to pay the toll to Valve for building the platform gamers want.

Piracy is essentially a form of archivism. The digital age literally ended scarcity in digital media and these people were like "well that won't do".

Epic enshittified early. The whole system was terrible and they force it onto you. Here is valve actively making it easier to play your games while epic was like "It's PC gaming, you get the good with the bad, suck it!". You can't simply buy your competition when your competition has more money than God.

Epic is failing because Tim Sweeney refused to innovate the platform.

Cheating in academia is the name of the game. There is a survivor bias here assuming the other 78 students didn't cheat. They're Learning how to not get caught. Building a better trap may simply yield a better better cheater. The proof ends up being in the work.

I still think honeypots are amusing AF.

Office jobs are BS in the internet era. You go to work to look at a screen. You come home to look at a screen. You go to bed, you look at a screen.

Your bosses are taking calls from their hot tubs while smoking big spliffs and making fun of you for not being as smart as them. They figured it out and they'll be retiring any day now. I'm not even being facetious, I know these people. They're the Pakleds of the human race.

This is the actual truth. Revisiting the catalog of early cross platform games and it's evident that Sony engineers couldn't get anything running well on there for the first three years of its lifespan. The same games ran just fine on the Xbox360.

Every one is else is doing piracy while I'm doing "digital content preservation". These companies would happily send you a letter telling you to destroy all copies of a book In your house if they had the right to. You must resist.

Honestly I'm ecstatic to see more Valve hardware. They're setting the target for hardware for game developers which means a better experience for us all.

PC Game Developers will know they need to get they're game running on deck (and now FRAME) if they want to hit the maximum size audience. Nvidia currently owns PC gaming but they're not good stewards of the PC gaming ecosystem anymore (nor is Microsoft).

  • I really have no interest in title's that beg me to run buggy builds on a $2000 graphics card that is less than 2 years old to be "playable". (Looking squarely at unreal engine 5 games)

  • I have no interest in GPUs that cost 200% the cost of the rest of the PC.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I want AMD apus to dominate the space. I want Linux to empower them. I am tired and TBH my next gaming PC is going to end up running Kazeta.org at this rate.

Thank you for coming to my TEDex talk

My dad tells me it has something to do with Communism and the color pink but I can't really understand him through his slurred speech three drinks in after Thanksgiving dinner.

The demos run on the back of two 5090 GPUs... At what point do we even acknowledge I shouldnt need to be using nearly 2kW of power on a gaming PC on a dedicated circuit in my home? Simply diminishing returns at a certain point and nvidia is bringing us way past that point into very unreasonable territory.

Is it cool they could do it at all?... I GUESS?! But they've definitely lost the plot here.

I think Nintendo is dancing into dangerous territory here. I have a feeling this thing is going to be loaded with anti-features here specifically designed to curtail modding, piracy, and even unlicensed peripherals. The games themselves are going to get HD re-re-eleases and Nintendo will charge you full price again for the moderate upgrade.

I'm pretty sure that this is because steam uses chromium as its backend and chromium new version doesn't run on windows 7. It's still not good because there are some games that won't run on newer systems and therefore 7 is required for preservation.

As many of you pointed out, yes I agree proton is the answer if possible. YMMV
