@JensSpahnpasta
- Google Workspace to Infomaniak
- first from Google Pixel -> Murena Fairphone, then Android to Sailfish OS
- not "to" but a new thing I am really happy with is my Prusa 3d printer
- Windows -> Linux (but that was already in 2013/2014)

@Chemo Klarna despite being Swedish is actually a pretty shitty Company if you take a closer look. Exploitative and predatory practices are normal for them. Their biggest income? Not commissions from the companies they promote as you might assume, but from the people who can't pay back on time. And that is not by accident. They also are AI first. Not humans first.

@msrb711 I switched from streaming back to owning my media again and buying CD, DVD and Bluray. They are dirt cheap in flea markets and there is something neat about the coverart, leaflets and Bonus features. I also bought a FIIO Snowsky Echo and it has amazing sound quality and battery life for 60 Euros. UX is a bit fiddly but I got used to it.

@guest @cronenthal And like so many pointed out: you don't own those movies. As painful as that realization might be. You bought a license to watch them for as long as Amazon deems it beneficial to their bottomline to offer them. They pulled the same shit with books.

And I too am of the conviction that if buying isn't owning, then downloading isn't stealing.

@yoru77 Be aware that privacy minded smartwatches are currently still often limited in functionality. You have the PineTime, AsteroidOS, ZSWatch (not yet available), Watchy and a couple of others.

The new (re)Pebble looks promising (open source).

I went for a Polar watch from Finland.

@ShadyQuark By the way... Here in NL the banks switched their Maestro cards over to Visa debit cards which enable you to easily make online purchases and allow me to kick out PayPal.

Visa is still US, though... sigh... compromises...

And you don't get the purchase protection you get with PP or a "real" creditcard.

@EdgeInternational992 @bossito The glasses were not for style by the way. He had / has bleeding in his left eye, which does look horrifying, but is rather harmless, but takes about two weeks to go away completely.

@stoy While their mandate 'Buy American' goes back to 1950 with the Defense Procurement Act. For European companies to qualify they demand production be at least 50% based in the US and often a full transfer of IP.

Now they cry foul as we aim to do the same tells a lot about just how skewed that relationship is and basically has been for decades. Freeloaders my ass! Don't budge @EUCommission ! #us #uspol #europe #defense #buyeuropean #unplugtrump

@David @wanderColossus Maybe. I still refuse to use it. I use either AOSP or the FUTO keyboard. Typing in Dutch, English and German most of the time. Not always great but I make it work

@ShadyQuark Stay away from bunq... I say that as a former customer. There was a huge outcry last year in the Netherlands about them.

They flat out refused to help or limit the damage for customers that were victims of fraud.

And that while being the most expensive bank around regarding fees.

@Charger8232 Lists from #Alternativeto (which this is based on) are usually not very reliable and show information that just isn't correct on a service or often includes services that are not real Alternatives to what you were looking for in the first place. The only thing that helps against that is doing your own research.

To pick out one example (I don't have time to them all): they list #Posteo as being proprietary which just isn't correct. That company is as #opensource as they come.

@RvTV95XBeo @SrMono No, but what is your gripe? Located in Europe. Spend most of their money in Europe and have the same general mentality. Strongly focused on privacy.

@SrMono Ever only used #Microsoft #microslop for a very short time for gaming.

Have been running primarily on Linux since 2013 or 2014 and exclusively since 2018.

#bigtech free for my private devices and services since 2022

@Libb Take the purchase of F-35 by Germany. That is another dirty move of coercion by the US. They refuse to ratify European jets for use with the B-61 now the Tornados have to be replaced. The Eurofighter can carry it but its not allowed to. So they force the F-35 on Germany. Not doing it is to step outside the nuclear umbrella and rendering yourself vulnerable to Russia. The only alternative would be sharing weapons with France in the long term if they are willing to do that.
