+1 for DDG

And thank you for reminding about bangs

It would be nice to see a new home for Tabletop Game Design; much enjoyed the discussions around both role playing and board/card games alike.

My longest running self-host is the RSS reader Tiny Tiny RSS running on a Digital Ocean droplet with Ubuntu 22.04

Thank you for mentioning Jerboa; installed and quite happy with it so far.

I was searching for Reddit alternatives and found a rather long list that included which were open source, federated, had apps, etc. and that's where I first heard about Lemmy. As I was browsing the different sites I found additional people talking about Lemmy specifically and that got me to research further and eventually join.

Does Lemmy have any way of rewarding members who donate similar to Patreon such as differences in avatars, personal community, etc. ?

Oohhh, yes, those are quite nice 🐝

Mostly Pandora for music discovery with some occasional Spotify mixed in

yt-dlp to download a few favorites to listen to in car via phone

Yeah, definitely avoid anything divisive; thanks :)

Not sure about an entire instance however looks like you can browse their community list and subscribe to them individually:

Sidebar info on how to subscribe:

You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: !chat@lemmy.directory

Edit: here's a direct link example showing option to subscribe to above:

Mostly board games; taught couple of our older boys Scythe and then got in several rounds of Turing Machine.

Recently started Homeworld Mobile on phone and liking it so far.

Also planning to tinker with merging Color My Quest (ttrpg) with Wallet Dungeons to play with our younger kiddos.

Just reinstalled Guild Wars 2; recalled enjoying my time there long while back and was glad to see Steam installs it just fine for playing on Linux.

Local

I'm sorting by New and watching what comes through to see what I want to ensure I'm subscribed to as well as what to block. I'll likely stay on local most of the time.

I find All to be jarring when several posts load from other instances and only switch to it when exploring other community options.
