We are witnessing the downfall of American democracy. Hopefully Europe holds.
I really don't understand why we keep appeasing them, only for them to escalate even further.
Russia jamming the President's plane would have been unthinkable a few years ago.
I don't think there was any specific target. They're testing NATO readiness and defences.
They're starting to realise caving and bootlicking is no way to deal with bullies?
I think the bigger news is that if it happens she's going to step down as President of the European Commission.
It's not conservatives, all actual conservatives understand now more than ever how needed the EU is. This is a coordinated attack on liberal democracy and the rule based world order coming from actors whose n.1 foreign policy objective is destroying them. Russia, China and Trump all have the same goal and that's undoing liberal democracy, or at the least rendering all liberal democracies useless.

We could get Draghi instead...
“Smart, well-educated, young people from our own country, from around the world, where were they getting their information?” asked Clinton during a New York conference hosted by the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “They were getting their information from social media, particularly TikTok.”
She continued, “That is where they were learning about what happened on October 7th, what happened in the days, weeks, and months to follow. That’s a serious problem. It’s a serious problem for democracy, whether it’s Israel or the United States, and it’s a serious problem for our young people.”
This is the quote from Clinton. She's bringing up the dangers of media manipulation, and this article's headline kinda proves her point.
Not saying Europe is in the best shape but you have a President threatening war to stay in power, accepting Qatari bribes, saying he wants to be treated like kim jon un, etc.
It's not even close.
Good. Keep it up.
Only difference is the EU doesn't engage in electoral manipulation and Russia does.
EU is supporting a country against Russian infiltration attempts aimed at destabilising it and undoing its democratic institutions in order for it to become a Russian puppet state.
Russia engages in electoral manipulation in basically the entire western world by means of media propaganda schemes, funding of eurosceptic parties, bot farms, etc. EU doesn't.
Get your head out of your Russian manipulated ass.
The German Federal President is elected by parliament + some representatives from each regional council, so I don't think that's a threat for now but it certainly will in the next popular vote.
"Security would be monitred by Russia and China" means that it would be monitored by the country who's just invaded you and its ally which means capitulation.
Not at all. Thing is, where did she deny anything? Did you read the article?
I'm not American and I'm fully supportive of Palestine and Palestinians, in favour of sanctions on Israel and of the recognition of the Palestinian state. But media manipulation is probably the biggest danger our societies are facing and it's a problem even on this matter.
Worse? It would be much better in my opinion.
Why should't we take down things that are heading for a town or a city?
That's why the ECB is building the digital euro
The problem with TikTok is that it clearly pushes Chinese narratives.
