Here is a 486 taking over three minutes to boot.

The person you replied to countered a broad generalization with an anecdote which probably matches the lived experience of most of us oldies who lived through the time. Your comment did not contribute to the conversation.

I enjoyed the PC version of the game on Day One. It was a buggy launch, but not worse than a Bethesda game or a number of other games that are now remembered as classics (cough, cough, Witcher 3). If we really get into the weeds, CDPR's biggest sin was not cancelling the last gen versions of the console games.

If you focus directly on that choice, whether to scrap two platforms for one of the most anticipated games of the year, whether to deliver a sub-par product or cancel thousands of pre-orders and refund a shit ton of money at a time when the war chest is probably at its lowest... They made the wrong choice, but I get that it wasn't an easy one to make.

Haven't read the comics yet, but the show Invincible has an interesting deconstruction of this topic. When Mark comes on the scene, superheroes are popular and generally seen as virtuous.

Mark and his opponent are so much more powerful than any other heroes who came before and he's unable to stop their battle from destroying huge chunks of a city and killing thousands.

The government understands his limits and the elevated stakes, but the people on the ground vilify Mark and he has to deal with his guilt and their hatred throughout the series.

It was also backronym'd to mean Packet Internet Groper, but I get why not a lot of people would want to embrace that

I knew very little about HPV until I became symptomatic last summer. I had just turned 39 and had an extremely painful and difficult few months dealing with it. I'm now vaccinated and see a proctologist every few months to manage minor ongoing symptoms.

Talk to your doctor about getting the vaccine if you haven't already! It's super common and can be extremely unpleasant to catch. And if you care about the AFAB partners in your lives, get the vaccine to protect them! There is no test for men to determine if they have HPV unless they are symptomatic, and you can be a carrier for years before symptoms show, if they ever do!

Thanks. I blame the awful sex education I received growing up in the South in the US for under preparing me.

Stein wasn't even the only third party candidate stealing votes. I voted for Gary Johnson with the Libertarian party as a "protest vote". Glancing at national results, he had almost three times as many votes as Stein did.

I was 100% the moron this meme is targeted towards. I voted for Harris yesterday.

hackers only need a simple $169 hacking tool called Flipper Zero, a Raspberry Pi, or a laptop to pull it off.

At that point, why mention the Flipper Zero or RPi? Just say it can be done without specialized hardware. I feel like they're trying to piggyback off of the buzz from the Flipper Zero being banned in Canada recently.

The whole point of the Sword of Damocles was that the threat was always looming and Damocles didn't know when it might fall. We know exactly when Microsoft says they are going to drop support. There's a decent chance that they'll push that date back due to slow adoption at least once.

This is more about rats not fleeing the sinking ship until the sea has reached the bow.

Phone systems that give you the prompt, "Press # for more options" etc are called Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems. If you encounter an IVR that asks for credit card info, social security number, etc, don't enter it in! If you stay silent, you will usually be routed to an agent, though that varies on whichever system you are calling into.

Even if the system is designed for completely non-nefarious purposes, the IT people who maintain the phone system can analyze call logs to pull electronic keypresses (DTMF) and reconstruct every digit entered to capture your data. Most IT people would never consider abusing this access, but some organizations contract or sub-contract their phone support out to the lowest bidding third parties and might not do a great job of vetting their techs.

Giving this information to a live agent has its own risks, but if you initiated a call to a documented telephone number for the organization you are trying to reach, it is generally a safer option than keying in sensitive digit strings to an IVR. It is much harder for anyone outside of the call center to scan recorded audio for information like this. (Though technology is closing that gap)

He was a 20 year old kid who knew he was seconds away from death, who had just scared off a cop who had come up the ladder after him. I'm not sympathetic for him, but I could understand him being jittery and missing. Paper and clays don't shoot back. It's not true practice.

I can't wait for someone to try to justify fleeing the police with this law. "Officer, you were executing your official duties. I was trying to obey the law by staying 25 feet from you but you kept pursuing me!"

Guess I'll cross New Orleans off my list of possible vacation destinations. Not a big fan of voluntarily entering police states.
