That site is so weird. And whoever wrote that article is also mathematically illiterate. Not to mention they didn't link to any sources. So here is one they claim to have used:

https://ec.europa.eu/...

This source says that 65% of 25-64 year old spoke at least a second language in 2016. The much lower number of 24% is when asked about proficiency, which can't be compared with the US given Americans' notorious overestimation of their own qualifications.

Most of the 25% of Americans (I couldn't find a source for this) claiming to speak a second language is immigrants. I guess it needs to be said, but when people comment on the monolongualism of Americans, it's about those who are not immigrants or first generation born in the US.

In my experience, most non Hispanics claiming to speak Spanish in the US struggle to hold even a basic conversation. And I have been to 35+ states, including door to door canvassing, etc.

Legally the output of the training could be considered a derived work. We treat brains differently here, that's all.

I think the current intellectual property system makes no sense and AI is revealing that fact.

That is not my experience at all. Most Americans get extremely defensive when someone criticizes the US, even people who know better. Many are ok with specific criticism (like, healthcare sucking), but it doesn't take much for them to revert to 'murican mode.

I have been living in the US for over a decade and been to 2/3rds of the states.

It's kind of funny how you are wrong in every way.

  • Union workers earn 20% more.
  • You shouldn't work while injured. Worker's comp is a thing.
  • You pay a dime to get a dollar.
  • It's not abuse to take sick time, but you already stated people should work injured.

Thank unions.

Also Terraria is a lot of fun and more replayable than most $70 games.

I found this video: https://m.youtube.com/...

And they claim they were told they would rebuild cities destroyed in the war, but not take part in it. So they were expecting to go to Ukraine, just not as soldiers.

I don't have a lot of trust in any of the parties involved in this, I'm just reporting it.

I did not know the answer so I looked it up. Fiberglass is hard to recycle and it isn't done much. A lot of nuclear "waste" is actually spent fuel which can be reprocessed and used again.

Obviously it would be better to improve recycling of fiberglass but as it stands today, nuclear waste might be recycled more often than fiberglass...

In the US a lot of workers don't get paid if they don't show up to work because they have no paid time off.

In the US they often combine sick days and vacation days, so if you miss work while sick, you are using your vacation days, which are very limited.

Uh, what? Most Catholics aren't circumcised, that's an American thing.

American schools are big. There is no need for a huge stadium, and definitely no need for a lot of parking, especially considering that it sits empty most of the time. Schools on my home country are smaller, and we have more of them, and they have zero parking. Even the expensive private schools didn't have any parking spots, the idea seems weird. Frankly American schools appear to intentionally waste space and aren't integrated into their surroundings.

Reddit has employees and servers in Europe, including EU countries. GDPR most definitely applies.

I mean, that is not how it works. Also, crocodiles don't look like any dinosaur I can think of?

Classification is based on genetic relationships, not looks, so bats aren't birds, for example.

Every smart TV is a dumb TV too. Mine has some smart stuff, I think, but I have never used it, and it has never been online.

I don't know about Windows, on Linux it's at the function level, and some cases are tricky.

You mention you like picture frame mounts, so why don't you use picture frames? You can get some used stuff for very cheap at Goodwill. Or get wood trim at home depot and cut to size.

Anything that's not visible gets the glue gun treatment.

I love that "standard" means non-standard. I only have metric nuts and bolts, I use them for 3D printed stuff, car and bikes, and I have imperial screws and wrenches for wood working and car. I think my car is all metric, but it just felt safe to get a dual kit.
