Is most of the training data for popular LLM tools stolen? Yes, but the algorithms are not so from a theoretical perspective there's nothing inherently wrong with developers using AI (which itself is a broad term covering frontier models to simple neural net classifiers) but it's a matter of their tools which afaik is the responsibility of the developer. (Ex. Devs aren't banned from using VS Code even though Microsoft is not a good company) (Ex. Dont upload user PII to online tools just to convert a pdf you're responsible if they steal user data)

So really responsible AI means developers accept liability for any theft or plagarism these tools commit, just as they would if they plagarized code themselves which is less problematic for developers than introducing precedent for restricting developer tooling.

In theory you could revert the commits that are labelled AI-generated but given the scale and application of LLMs that's a lot of code to rewrite that was already reviewed by maintainers for a lot of important processes and will have likely undergone far less scrutiny and correctness tests. Until AI companies are held responsible for training data that's stolen and their generated outputs are held to legally be plagarism there is negative incentive to rewrite ai-generated code.

i somehow stumbled across duckduckgo and ended up reading its write up on why we need to use google search alternatives. The big one that clicked with me was how google can (and likely does) manipulate search results based on race and other factors. it immediately clicked why so many people are so self confirmed in their own biases and how to protect free and rational discourse we need to protect privacy.

From what I understand it's the final form of decentralization. The idea is that a bunch of user/community owned computers communicate with each other and act like an alternative community based internet provider. Big cities already implement some form of this like NYC.

Arch for me, I use Aur as a crutch to avoid compiling and managing source projects, i love pacman and rolling releases, and it's very easily customizable (ofc once you learn the system).

Currently my answer is ubuntu. I tried to use lubuntu recently but just so much wasn't working out of the box like nm-applet wasn't running on startup. The apt package manager is really tedious to use too.

This could also be boiled down to my general incompetence when it comes to Ubuntu based systems though :p

This wasn't it either unfortunately. The game I remember laid out the players on the right side of the screen and enemies on the left side, kind of like final fantasy (through I don't remember it being specifically being a Final Fantasy game)

I guess by "kinda of like final fantasy" I really meant the first Final Fantasy. I should also specify by right I mean the side of the screen the player's right hand would hold if the screen was a handheld, just for clarity's sake.

I've had my MX490 for 2 years and i think it works pretty well. Generally speaking, the CUPS setup is far easier with Airprint printers so if you're interested in that I'd pick up a printer that supports AirPrint. Arch wiki has more info on set up it needed
