Technically it doesn't fuck up the AI training; it just sidesteps it (still good and definitely easier)
Visiting that page with uBlock Origin enabled now warns that it's not official so I wouldn't trust it. I usually send people to https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#readme instead.

I don't think the audio challenge trains AI since it only plays a single clip. The visual challenge works because it mixes in answers it knows (to confirm you're a human) with answers it doesn't know (to train the AI)
My theory is that the audio challenge is purely for verification and they're okay with it not doing any training since a small minority of users will opt for it anyway.
how much is that in feet
From the article:
This will also impact other Chromium-based browsers, though the comment notes that "other browsers can continue supporting these if they so desire." Neowin points out that Microsoft Edge and Opera are likely to follow suit.
I've just been sticking with Firefox since it's open source and I trust uBlock Origin more than any other adblocker. (It even works great on Android)

he was unaware Mix could share patron data with neighboring businesses but did not see a problem with it. “I think it’s cute that they share it amongst other bars,” he wrote. “It’s like a little cybersecurity community.”

I'm Banksy

This reminds me that every conversation about Charlie Kirk should begin and end with his final words:
“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” he asked.
“Too many,” Kirk quipped. The crowd clapped and cheered.
Five, the audience member claimed. “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?” the man continued.
Kirk leaned forward and picked up his mic before setting back into an upright position. “Counting or not counting gang violence?” he said.
A loud “pop” suddenly rang out.
When I first decided to switch to Linux, I started exclusively using apps that were available on Linux. This way I was able to gradually transition my workflows one app at a time without any rush. When I was ready to install Linux, I did it on a new computer so I still had access to everything on the old computer and there was no risk of going computer-less if the installation went sideways.
Also, keep in mind that Asahi only works on M1 and M2 Macs. (If you have an old Intel Mac, you can just run normal Linux without Asahi)
Oh and Veronica Explains has a great video about her experience with Asahi.
Mullvad uses the term "Disconnected" in their apps, and their website header says "Not using Mullvad VPN".
(I know that's probably not a good reason to switch providers, but they are really good in other ways too)
Good example of why I don't rely on technology I don't control. I want my workflow to be future-proof and have a predictable cost.
if the problem is that major platforms are centralized, opaque, and controlled by corporations, why would the solution be yet another centralized platform controlled by a corporation?
Because people are brainwashed into only trusting billionaires, corporations, brand names, and consumer packaged goods to solve all our problems.
They think this will take some of the heat off of them. Hopefully no one actually thinks this is a reasonable compromise. If I want to help an elderly family member install something on their phone during Thanksgiving dinner or a family reunion, I'm not gonna want to wait a day. Uncle Paul's flying back to Florida tomorrow morning!
Huge strides to make things run anywhere and be more involved with the open source community.
Are you familiar with Embrace, extend, and extinguish?
Here's what I've done:
, to get to settings, then click "Privacy") or switch to HeliBoardStuff I haven't done yet but probably will eventually:
I haven't looked for good alternatives for these yet so if anyone has suggestions, I'm listening!
