Frankly this catch phrase never made any sense to me, from a logical point of view.

It assumes that:

1. If buying = owning then pirating* = stealing, because you own it without buying.

2. And if buying =/= owning then pirating =/= stealing, because you can't own it otherwise.

But the justification in the second statement is completely irrelevant to the first statement. You still own it without buying. It's still stealing.

UNLESS - we examine what "stealing" is. This is where the arguments about being in a digital space vs. a physical space comes in. Where the question is raised: Is making an exact copy really "stealing"? Or, consider what is being "stolen"? The original item? The idea? We need to think about this more.

But it's here the argument should be made and here the debate should be. That's where "pirates" have a chance of winning. Let's get rid of this flawed, easily repeatable, but fundamentally incorrect catch phrase and come up with a better one already. One that makes sense.

*(Nevermind that most of you technically aren't even pirating, you're just downloading the fruits of someone else that pirated.)

Thanks! Just to add a little more detail:

The exact date and time of the astronomical explosion is unknown, but once it happens, Hounsell says the once-in-a-lifetime event is sure to inspire the next generation of skywatchers.

Ethical cheating? Nice. I can get behind that.

I was considering a new Samsung phone - is that baked into it? (Assuming you're talking Samsung anyway, based on the galaxy name)

It's not about completely preventing infection, you can still get infected. It's about minimizing the odds of infection and lowering severity when infected, to mitigate transmission as much as possible. It's more about society as a collective and less about the individual. You can ride it out, sure. But if you pass it along to someone who can't, then what?

Never heard of FMHY or awesome before, what are they? Could you point me there too? Thanks!

I think !reddit just sends you directly to reddit and uses reddit's search engine, which has been infamously bad. Has that changed? It doesn't seem to be quite the same as appending "reddit" to queries to search for reddit posts, but using better search engines.

I wouldn't jump blindly but I'm gonna think

Nobody is making their own decisions

iirc, the only safe time to look directly at the eclipse is during totality, where the moon has completely blocked the sun. But that's a pretty small window, Dustin from SmarterEveryDay put out a really informative video last month if anyone's interested. He interviews Dr. Telepun who wrote a book on it and made an app that audibly walks you through what's happening during the eclipse in real time, really neat stuff.

Has that happened yet? I thought it was supposed to have happened by now

Pokemon was a fun emulate, anything else people like? Kirby games might be good too. Hmmm

duckduckgo does that with @duck.com email addresses too, I've liked using them so far

Definitely misread that as Download The Mall and was quite amused by the name until I checked the link to see more lol

Do I have an article for you: Linux is the only OS to support diagonal PC monitor mode — dev champions the case for 22-degree-rotation computing

Very specific - linux mint occasionally... crashes? Goes back to lock screen randomly, and closes all open programs. Very annoying to have happen when playing Beyond All Reason with 15 other people, causing the game to pause while I scramble to get back in (if possible). Haven't looked into why too much, just went back to Windows to game. Mint for casual browsing and most else.

The closest thing I've seen is lbry, where some creators have mirrored their YouTube accounts. But it feels like a very small number of them uploading there.

E to add: As with all alternative platforms, it's also home to a lot of content that was kicked off of more mainstream platforms for one reason or another.

A Florida man already jammed cellular on the way to work, presumably to prevent people from distracted driving. But ended up being a risk cause he was blocking emergency communications too, and got slapped with a fat fine: https://www.theverge.com/...

The software bloat is not dissimilar to what I've heard in the past, but I'd forgotten since I haven't gone in depth researching yet. Which phones do we prefer today? Loosely off the top of my head, less bloat/intrusiveness, nice camera, battery life enough for a day, and maybe on the smaller size to fit one hand are probably what I'll be looking in to.

From following a couple links to the source, I found this:

Multiple CMEs erupted associated with flare activity from Region 3664 on 07-09 May. These CMEs are expected to merge with potential arrival expected by early May 11 on the UTC day.
