in-class bathroom that you can hear through from the regular classroom…? wtf?
is this a regular occurrence in burgerland?
@lemmy.world
is a good day to STFU

Most “browsers” being marketed out there are based off of Google’s Chromium project. They are effectively re-skins of it (simplifying a little). Examples include Brave, Vivaldi, Opera I believe.
Firefox is completely separate and independent from this ecosystem (which is also why there’s a separate extension store for Firefox).
The third and last major (>a couple % market share) engine is WebKit, which is the basis of Apple’s Safari.
There’s tons of cool stuff out there, but it’s either niche (platform/use case), unstable to use, and/or both. Examples: Servo, Ladybird, Orion
To sum it up, if you’re a normal, average user:
While on the topic, here’s some cool browser extensions:
Consent-O-Matic (auto-deny cookie banners)
StopTheMadness / StopTheMadness Pro (macOS only)
Bitwarden or the browser extension of another, different password manager you (hopefully) already use
YouTube-specific extensions, if you use the platform
(optional) Privacy-heavy focus. Caution: Having these extensions may lead to some sites breaking – they are not necessary for most people.
(optional) Dark Reader
Edit: fixed a link
Technically, she got more votes (edit due to being unclear: than Trump, in 2016). And not by a little, nearly 3 million people more voted for her over orange anti-republic anti-democracy man. But the voting system is unrepresentative, so it didn’t matter.
Via Francis Maxwell:
If you think it’s crazy Biden called Zelenskyy Putin, wait till you hear about the time he got his doctors name wrong, confused Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi and said Viktor Orban was the leader of Turkey…
Wait, that was Trump. Morons and hypocrites everywhere.
Honest question, since I have no clue about web/browser engines other than being able to maybe name 4-5 of them (Ladybird, Servo, Webkit, Gecko, … shit, what was Chromium’s called again?):
What makes browsers/browser engines so difficult that they need millions upon millions of LOC?
Naively thinking, it’s “just” XML + CSS + JS, right? (Edit: and then the networking stack/hyperlinks)
So what am I missing? (Since I’m obviously either forgetting something and/or underestimating how difficult engines for the aforementioned three are to build…)
Someone break this word down for me
Hilfe leistungs lösch gruppen fahrzeug
(technically i’d need to add capitalization and dashes when separating into full nouns)
help giving exterminating groups’ vehicle drive thing (as others in this thread have noted)
Das Hilfeleistungslöschgruppenfahrzeug der Feuerwehr […]
The aid-providing fire-fighting vehicle of the fire department
Es transportiert Feuerwehrleute, Leitern, Werkzeuge, Schläu[che…]
It transports firefighters, ladders, tools, hoses
Not gonna lie, it’s a bit over the top. Feuerwehrfahrzeug (fire dept’s truck) would’ve sufficed IMO. Nobody not working as a firefighter (and arguably not even all of those who do) knows let alone uses that long-form word.
