Grew up in the 80s and 90s. As progressive and openminded as I thought I was then...holy shit there are a lot of words and phrases I won't touch any more because they sound archaic, racist, mysoginistic, or hateful today. Back then they were perfectly acceptable everyday things no one would bat an eye at. It does make me happy that at least in this small arena we seem to have made progress as a society.
(Should add that this is from a US perspective)
They also discussed how students with higher grades had a better chance of going to college, while those with lower grades had a higher chance of going to jail, getting shot or getting killed, parents told The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Although there was no intended malice involved
Yeah, what harm could come from making a gradeschooler think about getting shot or going to jail every time they take a test? I'm sure it will provide great motivation instead of turning the poor kids into nervous wrecks.
I have 4 kilts and wear them to work when I want to, almost as a dare to management so I can retire off a lawsuit. Utilikilts and Verillas have great kilts with pockets for workin' men that like a pretty skirt.
Think of all the people you've known who were open minded and accepting and how small the number of them seemed compared to the majority when we were growing up. Know that a lot of those people probably went on to inspire those qualities in others and raise their kids to value those things. I've seen mainstream society come a long way from my childhood in the 80s and teens in the 90s.
I agree, I had a lot more hope for Gen X but we were up against the juggernaut of the boomer voting bloc. As those selfish fucks age out we're finally looking at the possibility of righting the ship.
My favorite part of Libertarianism is that Saint Rand collected Social Security.
It exemplifies the shameless selfishness of the libertarian philosophy and really links well with the conservative mindset of "I got mine, fuck you".
I took away my son's bb and pellet guns because I caught him waving his rifle around like a toy.
"But it wasn't loaded!"
"Then you obviously forgot or ignored the very first thing I taught you."
Enlarge/reduce an enemy. Have your fighter pick them up and use them as a weapon on the other enemies. Bonus if you have tavern brawler.
And when your run out of enemies to hit with the one you're holding? Hit the floor with it. If the floor is on fire they take bludgeoning and fire damage.
Good times.
I love my Leaf. Only 129 miles for range and can take longer than 12 hours to charge in my garage but not having bought gas for almost 5 years has been great and it's a joy to drive an electric car. I compared the Leaf to the Tesla Model 3 at the time and could find no reasons that the Leaf wasn't a better use of my money. Tesla electric cars seem like more of a status symbol than an environmental or economic decision in today's EV market.
