He deserves all the hate he gets.

And that hilarious line "...I've never physically hurt anyone". Interesting how he has to qualify that by saying he never 'physically' hurt anyone. Like he knows if he said he never hurt anyone, he'd get called out right away. What a joke. Yeah, he's financially ruined people, cost people their jobs, selling defective vehicles, overpromising and underdelivering, stolen from people (see how he took control of Tesla. People say he founded Tesla, but he didn't. he was an early investor, and used strong-arm tactics to oust it actual founders), but he's never actually physically put his hands on anyone, so he's a good person... right.

Hilarious. The US reaching out to the people they've insulted, threatened or victimized in some way, shape or form and asking them for help. And when they get refused, they'll tell the American people that everyone is being so mean to them.

Honestly, I wasn't comfortable going to the US ever since Trump got elected the first time. This is just another reason to never visit that place again. Would rather vacation somewhere in Canada, or if there's a great travel deal, visit Europe.

Funny how he says he never 'physically' hurt anyone, instead of he 'never hurt anyone, period'. Because he knows if he said he never hurt anyone, he'd get called out for all the crap and shady dealings he's done, and all the people whose lives he's ruined.

I deleted all my amazon accounts a few weeks ago, and have no plans to go back. When I order things now, I'll just order through the vendor instead of Amazon, I can live with it taking longer or costing a bit more.

I remember before the purchase was made, I was really hoping the government would purchase the Swedish Saab Gripen. I think it was one of the finalists for consideration (that's what I remembered from a few news casts at the time, but not sure if it was an actual finalist, or just someone saying they thought it would be a good option.)

The main reason for me thinking we should have gone with the Saab, was that I trusted buying from Sweden more than the US. I can see the US putting some systems in place that could give them control or some way to negatively affect the F-35s. I remember someone saying that countries don't have friends, only interests, but I'd still trust Sweden more than the US to not betray us in some way.

He has to be. I can't think of any other reason why he'd be trying to hard to antagonize and disrespect long-time allies, while praising Russia. He then made that ridiculous statement that Ukraine started the war, when Russia was the one who invaded them, and also said that Zelensky should be 'nicer' to Putin. But Putin, who ordered the attack that caused who knows how many deaths, shouldn't be 'nicer'?

There was also the first term, where Trump fired the FBI director over an investigation into Russia, and then told Russia that he fired 'that nut job'. What kind of message does that send to their own people? Not just that he fired the director, but that he bragged about it to the people he was investigating.

I honestly think most of the GOP knows, but they're too embarrassed to admit it. Or maybe it's just pride, they think it's beneath them to be held accountable to anyone.

They voted for this. So I don't have any sympathy for them saying Trump doesn't represent them. He does. They go on and on about how they're the greatest country in the world, and how their government is 'of the people, by the people, for the people'. They're more responsible for the actions of their government than any other nation is for theirs.

And the American mentality is that their pride will never let them admit if they're wrong. So even though they may know that talks of annexation and taking away our country are beyond offensive, they can't say it. They have to say that it's for some greater good that no one else can see, even if they know it's BS. But the problem is, short of NATO putting troops in our country to help fight off an invasion, I don't know what would stop the US from just trying to take whatever they want in the name of 'freedom'. And the funny thing is, on the Cato Human Freedom Index, which measures a person's person, economic and civil freedom, we rank higher than the US. We're #11, and the US, the leader of the free world, is #17. So how are they the 'freest nation' in the world? Why would we downgrade ourselves by joining them? We wouldn't. No one would. Unless it was by force.

I've said this before, and I meant it then; the mentality of the US is that they're basically a r***** telling their victim that if they lay down and let them (USA) have their way with them, they won't get hurt. THAT's the US right now. They're our neighbours, but they're NOT our friends. And they probably never were. They just finished hurting other nations, and decided to turn their attention to us.

Feel the same way. He basically has the US Treasury now, and can do whatever he wants with his DOGE, I doubt he cares about Tesla.

I agree too. its frustrating, because on one hand, it gets exhausting listening to all the false information they're putting out, or just outright lies, but on the other hand, it's important to keep informed and know what they're doing. I guess in the end, it's really just a tactic; tell as many lies as possible, because the other side won't have the time, energy and resources to dispute and rebut all of them. So the lies not being challenged will be believed to be true. And that side will keep piling on the lies, because they know the other side can't refute all of them.

I remember in one of the US debates, one side was telling lies and saying things that were objectively, factually false, and they weren't being called out by it by the moderator. Later on, one of the analysts on another network said that the problem was, if the moderator keeps fact checking the person who's always lying, it looks like they're picking on them and favouring the other side. When someone pointed out that was because the other side wasn't lying, or lying to the same degree, the analyst said it didn't matter; what mattered was the perception.

CBC is really the only source I follow and trust, but I'm not sure what other sources to go to. I want to be more informed, but don't know what other sources to go to.

They're just all over the place at this point. One moment they're accusing the Canadian government of being totalitarian, then next moment they're saying it's been overtaken by cartels from Mexico. Like, ffs, make up your mind. And funny how they never like to talk about all the illegal guns they allow over their border into Canada. Guess that just screws up their narrative.

A lot of people in the US will say they don't support it, and will speak out against it, but when the forces deploy, the American people won't do anything to stop it. They won't stage walkouts, or take actions that will cripple their economy at home in protest, because it will cause them inconvenience and pain.

They'll just say they're against it, that they're morally outraged, and will offer 'thoughts and prayers'. Nothing more.

Good work. And I agree that the media is included, and it should be highlighted and made more public just how many news outlets are controlled by US companies. I honestly don't think a lot of the general public are aware of how much control the US has over many of our new outlets. Maybe people might have suspected it before, but not cared, but I think they'd care more now, given the US's recent actions, and share that with the people around them.

Agree 100%. That's their soft power, trying to heavily influence people with their entertainment to see things through their values, or lack thereof. I know as a kid growing up, it was basically all US shows, but I was too young to make that distinction between US and Canadian content. I think there should be an investment to make and distribute more Canadian content, so we're not constantly being bombarded with US content.

Good. The US should be given the cold shoulder, or not be given the same access and information they had before. They can’t be trusted. Does anyone really think he wouldn’t share any information he’s given with his Russian handlers? Right now, they're a threat to the other four members' national security.

Yeah, I don't think they understand that, by and large, most Canadians won't react to sensationalist attack ads the way Americans will. Well, Conservatives may eat it up, but outside of their base, a lot of people will be more bothered by the tone and brazenness of some of their messages, than by what they're claiming about Carney.

I think the important thing for Carney and the Liberals, is to not get into too much mud slinging. They have every right to attack, but they should focus on PP's refusal to get security clearance, and how someone like that can't be trusted to lead them in these times. They should bring up how PP wants to be more closely aligned with the USA, while the Liberals want to diversify their trade and relations, so that they're not as dependant on any one country. It's a simple strategy of not putting all of one's eggs in one basket. I think that's something a lot of Canadians would understand and support.

They should also bring up PP's record on how few bills (if any) he passed, and point out that PP, for all his talk, is a career politician, and that his economic record doesn't compare to Carney's. There was also a rumour that PP would pick Andrew Sheer as his Finance Minister. Andrew Sheer, the person who had dual citizenship (Canadian and US). It's fair to bring that up, considering the state of affairs between Canada and the USA.

What's funny is, they keep calling themselves the 'leader of the free world', but in 2024, according to the Cato Human Freedom Index, which measures personal, civil, and economic freedoms, the US ranked 17th. Canada? 11th. And this was not taking into account Trump's second term. Most of the countries in the top 10 were all European, the countries that the US likes to call 'socialist welfare states'.

Exactly. In fact, didn't Trump once say he loved the uneducated? An informed electorate, one that's capable of critical thinking, is the one thing every dictator would fear. Makes it harder for them to manipulate the masses. Which would explain why Trump wants to close down the Department of Education.

One of the polls suggested that with Carney as Liberal leader, the Liberals would either be tied with the Conservatives, or even slightly ahead. But I'm just hoping that people don't take the polls for granted and don't get out and vote. While PP may have lost some ground in Ontario, he still has Alberta, so Liberals need to stay focused, since there's no telling when the election would be called, and they have to get their own leader in place first before that happens. If and when Carney gets elected Liberal leader, my concern is that some people will just think there'll be a large enough turnout that they don't have to vote themselves. I think right now, the negativity that's turning some people off PP and the Conservatives is mainly being fuelled by Trump. But if Trump turns his attention to things like the Middle East, or talks about Canada less, then I'm worried that people will become complacent and not see PP as someone who basically supports just about everything Trump says.

And even though PP talks about 'Canada First' and how he'd stand up for Canadians, I don't see him talking back to Trump. I can see Trump saying something offensive against Canada, and PP either deflecting, or blaming Trudeau, instead of defending Canada. Another thing is, I don't see PP trying to foster relations with other nations, he just wants to cozy up to Trump, either due to ideology, or because he thinks it will appease him, or both.
