Digg is technically still around even though it doesn't resemble anything close to the "Digg" I used before the migration. I suspect Reddit will go in the same direction. They will keep pushing ways to monetize it, pushing out a lot of people who just want to chat and argue with strangers on the internet until it basically just becomes a website with a bunch of sponsored links and articles and no real user engagement.

I once said on /r/nintendo in the context of Nintendo increasing the price of games that even if you enjoy their products, there’s no excuse to defend their anti consumer practices and that there was way too much “corporate boot licking” among Nintendo fans. It wasn’t a statement directed at anyone specifically, but I got a temporary ban for “derogatory name calling.”

Like…I fully understand it’s going to be a sub of Nintendo fans, and I also consider myself a fan of a lot of their games, but if you aren’t allowed to be critical…then banning me for that post kinda proved my point, lol.

I’m fine with tankies being blocked, so I’ll stick around here.

Can anyone ELI5 how federation works? Does it mean that I can only subscribe to communities that this instance is federated with, or is that just what shows up on the front page or something?

It’s even stupider when it’s on game pass. I’ve never paid full price for game pass, and I’ll hold on to whatever deal I get until a big game comes out. Everyone on steam is paying $70, and I’m going to pay $3 for 3 months (which is longer than my attention span lasts for these kinds of games).

If you plan on using a screen protector, don’t get the anti glare screen. The anti glare causes a slight blur, and the protector will just add glare back giving you the worst of both. They make etched glass protectors that have the same anti glare effect, but if you put that on the anti glare screen you get double the blur effect.

If you don’t mind popping your deck open, you can get the 64gb version and a 1 or 2tb drive for less than the price of the 512gb model. Watch a video on how to swap the drive first to make sure you feel comfortable. Otherwise, I think going for the 256 and getting a large SD card is your best option. The 64gb model doesn’t really have a lot of space for shaders which can’t be installed on the sd card without installing some mods.

More federated communities were showing up for me last night vs today. I’m thinking it’s a lot of new users bogging both ends down. There’s a lot of growing pains, but I think things should be sorted out eventually. No one was really ready for all of Reddit to onboard

Thanks. I think I’m starting to understand

I was really into them when they came out. Loved the games and the anime. I tried playing the .hack//gu remaster and it’s really clunky. If you have nostalgia for early PS2 games you might enjoy it, but I just couldn’t get into it again.

Boneless wings are just breaded chicken tenders that have been sauced up. They really have nothing to do with wings.
