bulk raising chickens in the millions is a totally different cost per animal ( is bulk slaughter and roasting them), than what you pay at a supply store

that's the point. the capitalists want every minute of your life they can get to work for them, then make you scramble to fit the rest of your life in the gaps. they make more profit and you have less time and energy to educate yourself, think, and organize

when business owners believe that potential customers are using Openstreetmap based apps, they'll add their businesses. until then, we're stuck adding them ourselves. maybe an outreach program would help

if you haven't heard people from other places complain about those places, you haven't been listening much. everyone complains!

Provide food, housing, clothing, and other essentials to the people for free. Help them set up their own system of mutual support and solidarity. Make money irrelevant.

I would never trust a billionaire to do anything for us. If he doesn't just carve out an exception for only people like himself at first, he'll still lobby to have new restrictions on sharing if they threaten his business model.

It'll end up being a back-and-forth between him and the IP companies, so if he has enough leverage, they'll just find a way to give him what he wants without doing so for regular folks.

Dom/sub is not hierarchy, it's a consensual relationship between people.

Hierarchy is an institutional set of involuntary command/control relationships

this article is so stupid.

The new socialists thus want the state to dictate the prices of many goods and services, especially essentials such as food and rent. Where money is required it will come, almost exclusively, by squeezing the very wealthiest. It is a form of retail politics that appeals not to notions of the common good, as in prior waves of socialism, but to people’s narrow self-interest. Lower my rent! Cut my bills! Give me free buses! Protect my job! The solutions are naive, and often unworkable. But the message is so simple, and so attractive, that this Gen-Z socialism is gaining adherents across the democratic world.

None of that is socialism. it's social democracy (aka gentler capitalism) at best. lower rent, lower bills, free buses, and job protections are not "selfish", they apply to everyone.

We've been physically separated by car dependency and the removal of free/cheap meeting spaces; distracted by the internet and streaming media; made to hate and fear each other by propaganda; and made temporary in our neighborhoods by rising rents and the hunt for the ever more rare decent job. That's why.

One way to meet people is to get a dog and walk them around the neighborhood. Another is to find local activity groups over discord, meetup, etc. Another is continuing ed classes at a local university or community college
