The guy is already providing his instance on his own cash/time, let him sleep at night. It's Lemmy, not a life-needed tool

Personally I automatically label and filter out of my inbox automatic emails, stuff that come often. So my inbox usually only has mails that concern me. And then I handle them the same way as you do: keep them unread till I handle them. Then archive those that are "ended".
I roughly think that until we reach critical mass, we shouldn't split too much the community. Maybe later we could ban memes, but for now I don't think we have too many content. On the piracy side, I think it should be a 0 piracy policy, to avoid any troubles. There are many communities dedicated to (motorsport) piracy on Reddit and certainly soon Lemmy, let them handle this.
For me that'll be Stardew Valley. I can just zone out to the really nice music. Also a few years ago I used to have Planetside 2 in that rotation. I was kinda bad but with the MMO aspect, I could always run somewhere for the objectives and have fun. Finally, I like Trackmania to discover new tracks and just chill.
Btw I use Archlinux
I switched to it 50% for the AUR: I regularly install softwares not from the classic repos, and the AUR is a godsend compared to cloning a Github, make install and thinking about updating it. The rest is a mix of the ArchWiki, its lightness and openness.
There's also the possibility you're trying to subscribe to a community from beehaw, where we have recently been defederated. Hence you're seeing an cached version of it and you won't be able to subscribe.
