Communities should be called slices! Lemmings donât often congregate in groups, but when they do, itâs called a âsliceâ! Itâs not at all dependent on the âsubâ nomenclature from Reddit, itâs our own thing!
I have parrots which are the same as chickens but more manipulative. Subscribing.
Yes! "Masturbating Marty", they call him. I decided to leave Reddit, though I left my profile intact because I think there's important information there.
In your video we can see some significant asymmetry; his right wing is sitting much higher, and further from the body, than his left wing. Asymmetry is a clear sign that something is wrong. I would definitely get him checked out by an avian vet when possible. If you are unable to get to an avian veterinarian by tomorrow, some veterinarians, or emergency animal hospitals, will prescribe pain control while you wait for an appointment with an avian vet.
When you see the avian vet, mention the clumsiness. Something might be causing him to be off balance. Healthy birds shouldnât be clumsy enough to cause significant injury; if they fall, they should be able to recover by flapping.
Thanks for reaching out for advice- it can be scary and stressful to hear that your little buddy might be hurt. Make sure youâre taking care of yourself too.
Iâve made a LOT of comments on Reddit and every so often I end up searching my own comments to copy and paste a response to a similar question. I 100% intend on continuing this practice on Lemmy, assuming my niche community ever takes off.
My life is âMurphyâs Law: the Movieâ. Every time I try to reassure myself by saying âwell, at least it canât possibly get any worse than thisâ, it gets worse. Thereâs no way that there isnât some asshole running a simulation where they just fuck with me.
Please tell me that the S. in Sterling S. Sterling is short for Sterling.
My African Grey was definitely traumatized. He (understandably) developed some separation anxiety. From his perspective, he was alone for 14 hours, in the dark (because the power was out), then there was a big scary noise in the middle of the night and strangers kidnapped him.
Martyâs emotionally unaffected. I took both birds out in their carriers to a pet-friendly shop the other day (trying to teach them that carriers donât always mean theyâre going somewhere bad) and Marty said âHi Martyâ to everything.
Miss Echolalia is an excellent name for a parrot! What sounds or phrases are her favourite to repeat?
We never got around to it, no. We were preparing to do a trial of Fluoxetine (Prozac), but the compounding pharmacy said that they werenât able to make a dose small enough to have room to titrate for his tiny little body. Our next plan was to try Clomipramine, but the whole wild fire thing happened. Marty lost his tail and has been absolutely exhausted while re-growing it. He hasnât been exhibiting as much hormonal behaviour because heâs sleeping so often. Once heâs back to normal, weâll consider trying Clomipramine.
So smol! What is their name?
A lot of the psittacine medical knowledge base is actually from poultry research. Theyâre surprisingly similar anatomically!
One big difference is that hens lay eggs every day, that still blows my mind. A parrot risks death if they lay more than twice a year because they canât recover enough dietary calcium quickly enough.
I can now sleep peacefully at night knowing that there is a cockatiel named Sterling Sterling Sterling. I love it.
Human names for pets is super normal! My birdâs names are Marty and Theodore. Birds are also definitely smart enough to recognize their name. Yasha looks like a very sweet birdie. đ
I've been doing my links like: [/c/cockatiel](https://lemmy.world/c/cockatiel)
No idea if it works or not.
I use SD to make character portraits for TTRPGs online and Iâve had decent luck fixing images with Photoshop (Beta) generative fill. Itâs good at some things, like replacing one eye so that it better matches the other. Itâs okay at noses. Itâs very bad at mouths. Itâs good at removing backgrounds or replacing something with background. Extending images is 50-50 but it can be nice for getting a character centred in frame, or for filling in the top of their head if it was cut off. Itâs also pretty good at blending two images- for example, I often have a good full body image with a really weird face; it makes it a lot easier to paste a different face on top and blend the edges.
I know this is a paid option for what youâre asking but hopefully it helps.
There's a community here for parrots and one for cockatiels specifically! I've added a link to Backyard Chickens to the sidebar of the parrots community. đ
Memmyâs been giving me issues with repeat comments today too.
25 years later and he's still finding new ways to manipulate you. My Grey is only 1 year old. Right now his favourite game is throwing toys near the dishwasher so he can go "get the toy", and while he's there, geez, look at that! The dishwasher kickplate I'm not supposed to chew on! Might as well chew it while I'm here...
thanks for using Leebra!
