I’m not from the states so please forgive me if this is incorrect, but I’ve read a “bill” can start out as one thing. Get a load of traction, then be changed last minute to something else entirely just before the vote. Is that true? Seems impossible track if it is

Got myself a VERY affordable refurbished surface laptop 3

Intel graphics, intel chip - damn this will run Linux like a breeze.

Boy was I wrong. Microsoft in their wisdom have some shenanigans going on.

Managed to find a kernel on GitHub, when I installed it broke secure boot (my fault for not fully understanding) and then ended up losing access to the whole system.

Long story short I’m back on windows 11 and researching how not to screw it up.

I realise you didn’t ask for any of this info, but sometimes it’s nice to vent :)

I tried mint and Ubuntu - both Debian based though, worth giving Bazzite a whirl. If nothing else it’ll give me something to do for a few hours 😀

I use the standard plug in charger at home. I get 12kw (45 miles) in my 7 hour off peak window. That coupled with free charging at work means I never needed to invest in the £1,000 7kw charger at home.

Everybody’s needs are different - my experience js just one of many. What I’m saying is if you’re reading this and think you need a big expensive charger at home, there are options!

Kinda like that guy on Reddit who hated showers all his life until he moved in with his partner & observed them waiting for the water to get hot before getting in

Y2K is one of those stories we look back on and think what a silly old load of nonsense. Truth is, if it wasn’t for the countless hours of overtime people put in to making those outdated systems support the date change, it really would have been utter carnage. You saw how crazy things got when we started to run low on toilet paper for a few weeks.

After the mother gives birth to a healthy baby boy, the father leans to the doctor and whispers “how long until we can have sex?”. The doctor replies, “I clock off at 3.”

When you visit the Chrome website in edge, a pop up in the top right tells you to use edge instead. Imagine going to sign up for a new ISP and your current one injecting a popup telling you they’re better. I have no idea how MS are getting away with it

The problem isn’t just re-joining the eu. New contracts would be formed that would be far less advantageous for Britain than they previously had. Which would start this whole circus again :(

For those (like me) who bought a TCL tv at a stupidly cheap price on Black Friday, you have options.

  • buy an AppleTV (even second hand) and don’t connect the tv to the internet. You won’t see any adverts on your Home Screen and be done with all this bullshit. What’s that? What’s the point in buying a £200 TV if you need to buy a £150 accessory? I hear you, read on…
  • if you’re broke like me, you can disable the stock launcher with adb and install projectivy launcher. I needed to use some software called launcher manager from xdaforums to replace the stock launcher. I also used adb to uninstall the pre-installed apps I had no intention of using.

Hopefully there are enough key words in there for you to google / research what you need to get going. Good luck!

Did they somehow miss the plot point of the movie where a TV executive was forcing cast members to work Christmas Eve instead of being with their families?

I hope the 3 ghosts have since visited whoever was in charge and sorted their shit out

This new ability, as spotted by Android Authority, allows supported Pixel phones to stop charging the battery when it hits 80%, but continue to use power from a plug to power the phone. At least, that’s what seems to be happening based on tests

You’re welcome

Something feels funny about “an European”. I’m pretty sure I’d say “A European”, but I have no idea what rule is triggering me to say that.

Damn English is all over the place.

Honestly this is so simple and effective at stopping these sort of scams dead in their tracks. When you call in to help desk and say “I was just on the phone with your agents about a payment problem” and they don’t see any record, it’ll set off all sorts of alarm bells. Especially if it’s the bank.

Sorry bud, you’re one of the good ones that needs to suffer because of the actions of many. Everybody on our service desk is taught “trust but verify”.

The approach isn’t meant to upset people like your good self, but you’re such an insignificant statistic that it’s worth pissing you off to catch the 90% who claim to have done all those things and haven’t.
