People love to shit on Ubuntu, but I do think it's important to remember that their primary customers are enterprises. That's what pays the bills, and it's also the reason that it's so well-supported. And since it's still Linux, you can disable or remove anything you disagree with, or go with a fork that's done that heavy lifting for you. Some companies (and individuals) will want the best-in-class Linux support for AI inference. Get over it.

Applying for jobs inherently involves the processing of your personal information. They need your legal name, your employment history, your contact information, etc. to determine if you're a good match. When you're applying online, this data must be transmitted and stored.

You can reduce your footprint by applying directly using email or the phone, even by making a job-applications-only email/VoIP like you mention. These services also require personal information for regularity purposes and spam/abuse prevention.

I think that the group of feelings we refer to as love can manifest in a variety of ways. Personally, I've had two long term relationships that were built on different kinds of love.

One was stable and secure, built on mutual trust and respect. We had fabulous communication, healthy conflict resolution, and a shared commitment to one another. There were also challenges that were bearable only because of that solid foundation.

On the other hand, I've experienced the passionate kind of love that gets glamorized in music and stories, or at least some degree of it. This is that falling feeling, passion, sexuality, and excitement. But that relationship was also somewhat unstable, so it was unfortunately an unsustainable feeling.

Both times, when the realization hit me that I had "fallen in love" (or developed a strong attachment, really) to this person, I was so overwhelmed and cried.

I don't think one is necessarily preferable to the other. An intellectual connection, sexual chemistry, and shared goals are all more important to me than butterflies in my stomach.

It's not that there aren't some risks to LLMs that produce illicit output, but the training data that made such output possible is openly available online already. As far as the risks of flooding the web with misinformation and propaganda, well...

If you want the Framework experience but a more rugged chassis, you might actually want to look into their 12-inch model. It's a 2-in-1 made with rubber and plastic. The specs aren't very impressive, but I mostly use mine for web and email and rely on an SSH connection to one of my desktops if I need some more compute for something.

I have experimented with microblog.pub in the past. It's easy to set up, and federation worked just fine for me.

I'm surprised that the model's benchmark performance isn't that much worse than the base given that it's running with 1-bit quantization. Impressive.

This was a good read. I recently moved to Chicago but have always lived less than 30 miles from the city center and ridden the trains in and the CTA around. I have always felt safer on the L than on other cities' metros (San Diego, Portland), but lately I have noticed an increase in open drug use. Hopefully the city can come up with some (compassionate) solutions for this problem.

"iCal" is often used to refer to Apple's calendar serrvice. Using DAV5x is the preferred way to sync this to your Android device

Maybe not strictly unintentional, but I used to love watching Poppy's YouTube channel. Her videos, especially the older ones, have pleasant ambient music and overdubbed vocals that definitely tickle the brain. The light satire is fun too, and some of the videos start to lean into the world of fashion. Her newer stuff is darker and heavier, less ASMR-like but still interesting.

Create an app-specific password for your Apple account. You can use that to log into iCloud from DAV5x with the "login with email address" option. This will add the account to your system, making it accessible from any calendar app including Fossify Calendar.
