Fellow oldie here

When we were in university, professors who had contacts in the manufacturing industry would post a bill on the notice boards stating that some of the factories they know have a slot for visit open. If there was enough interest, the thing would go on like any other group visit. Logistics, dates, etc.

During the visit, the professor and their contacts would walk us through the shop floor explaining the stations along their production line. Sometimes, there'll be a walkthrough of their logistic decision making processes. Usually concluded with a q&a session with some manager in the factory. Back then, we broke students were curious regarding how our education made us suitable for a job there and what soft skills are expected of us.

So, hitting someone up where you are interested in visiting might be a good start.

Or incorporate it. Basically what George Carlin said. Evolution will witness a new paradigm of life plus plastic and will keep evolving as if nothing matters.

Answering the question with a counter question

Why do we ask a question whilst already knowing its answer?

With the arrival of near infinite phonebooks, the drive and know-how to remember 100s of phone numbers is lost to humanity.

Passwords present added complexity to those of phone numbers. On top of a name to number (allowing a few collisions) passwords are required to be of certain length, contain an upper case letter, lower case letter, number, special character, and more importantly, a preset lifetime.

Password managers seem to be a safer and low stress bet for the vast majority. There will always a few exceptions who can do it all in their head. They don't tend to advertise their presence.

My first suggestion would be to try the distribution you used in WSL

Second would be Linux Mint, can't go wrong with either of Ubuntu edition or the Debian edition

Third would be OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. Though a rolling distribution, with easy rollback commands, any unusable state can easily be left behind

A quick Google shows that signing up for Threads requires you to walk the gauntlet of t&C agreements; and deactivating or deleting Threads would lead to your IG account being nuked; and that there's a following and world feeds both heavily informed by the Meta / IG algorithms.

A challenge to the EEE could be mounted by encouraging other social media giants to form an oligopoly on fediverse. Sadly this would slowly make self hosting a larger pain than it is for most

In the context of VFX/3D art jobs that you've mentioned, it can be that the ability to do everything on a Linux system. What that entails is beyond me. I'm far removed from the area.

Taking the stab all the same.

At a high level, can you get the software working on Linux system? Can you get the codecs and whatnot installed and working? Can you get the data to be processed prepared for working in the environment? Can you convert the processed data to the format that is friendlier for consumption on a wide range of platforms? Are some questions that pop to the top of the mind. Basically if you can run a non trivial part of the business without making a fuss, I'd consider you proficient. What you can and cannot do outside of this scope is, well, none of my business.
