If they both made it up, why aren't there calls for both to resign?

What the heck kind of photo op is that? The guy in charge of keeping people from dying takes a picture with a family whose daughter died from a preventable illness?

"Hey, good job on the dead kid! Lets take a picture!"

In a recent discussion in the Matrix chat, it was mentioned that donations to support development have recently fallen off quite steeply. I mentioned my reason for not donating anymore is because I can't support anyone who runs an instance like .ml. @nutomic@lemmy.ml said I could donate directly to him since he doesn't do as much moderation over there, but also mentioned that donations for development go towards server costs for .ml. Hell no.

This photo is taken out of context, though. I mean, he slapped his chest before the salute, and he did it twice in a row... Ah shit nevermind, he's a Nazi.

I think it's because people are still uncomfortable answering "atheist" on questionnaires and polls. It's easier to say "no religious affiliation", and most people are probably agnostic instead of atheist anyway.

This is the main reason I cancelled Prime. They started advertising "More than just free shipping", and I realized that I only used it for free shipping, and as Prime got more and more expensive I wasn't getting any value from it.

Now I just put stuff in my cart until I have $35 worth of stuff, and get free shipping anyway. It's not that much slower. An extra day or two usually, and it doesn't bother me one bit. I can wait a little while for my $10 guitar strap and it's not the end of the world.

Wrapping my head around reverse proxy was a game changer for me. I could finally host things that are usefull outside my LAN. I use Nginx-Proxy-Manager which makes the config simple for lazy's like me.

That's good. The article talks about how K9's should be handled with the legalization of weed. Should they be retired if they still respond to weed, etc.

Of course K9's aren't trained to actually smell anything. They're just trained to respond to an officers command, giving police the freedom to search any vehicle they please.

The worst part is when I spend time replying to a question, later to realize the OP will never see it.

It sounds like the parents went to her on purpose to get around the requirement. The parents should be held accountable, too.

I don't think the world admins really care if users transfer away. That's just federation in action. Good stuff.

Your comment got me thinking... Is this a big deal, or even a small deal?

I think it's a deal of some proportion. If someone is trying out Linux for the first time and stumbles across how Flatpaks work and starts exploring Flathub, maybe their initial impression will be good enough to consider switching. If something appears to be polished, then maybe it is.

By recording the electricity use in my house I noticed a 1500 watt spike at a semi-regular interval. It would happen every 50 minutes and lasted for a few minutes. While overall not that much of a draw, it sort of drove me crazy not knowing what it was...

Then I discovered that it was our septic system's effluent pump (the leach field is up on a hill). The pump was turning on way too often because ground water was leaking into the pump chamber. It's not supposed to do that. The tank was about 45 years old, so not a huge surprise really.

Basically, my home automation (or tracking, really) lead to an $8k concrete tank replacement (more or less, as we had the guy do some additional stuff while he was here).

That's not really a bad thing though. Maintaining your house is very important. Our well had failed a coliform test the previous year, and I've yet to get it re-tested to see if the new tank fixed that little problem. I've been giving everything some time to settle down.

I just built a computer for a friend and she decided to get an AMD when I told her it was about the same performance but used half as much electricity.

This is a person who knows nothing about computers. Intel is losing their "household name" status in a big way judging by that.

This will likely create a paradigm shift in joinery. Not just wood joining, either. Get ready to see skyscrapers get taller and bridges get longer.
