WTF. In the past I updated my tablet and after that it started to discharge within two days (not a week as it used to). The only way to fix it was to clear cache partition. And now they are removing that option.

The only scenario where I see disabling downvotes as a good idea is when upvotes are disabled as well.

So you either:

  • have only number of views (no up/down votes) so people don't chase virtual points
  • or there are both of them so that when combined they result in a fair rating.

Upvoting without downvoting doesn't show if people like it, nor whether it is good or bad. It only shows that it reached a lot of people and is popular. And that can be achieved with views alone.

It's for modifying applications to remove or add some features. Like removing adds and suggested content or giving users access to internal storage of apps. All patches should be listed on their website if you are curious what it can do.

If you really need it not to be killed, you can always open split screen before opening the second app, or just open it in free-form mode. But this is more of a workaround than solution.

Many years ago I was using USB WiFi Modem through micro USB port on my tablet. Since that worked, my guess is USB to Ethernet should be recognized as well.

Not sure about e/OS but generally on android you can set DNS when connecting to Wifi.
So you should be able to change that in Settings » WIFI » [Your local network] » DNS

  • Getting a proper error message when apk install fails,
  • installing apps designed for older Android versions,
  • downgrading to older app release
  • "Freezing" apps that i currently don't use

Nothing wrong with it. It is just an alternative, for those who are more concerned about privacy and security than an average user.

What is the source of this info? If it was doing serious damage to them they wouldn't publish these clients on their platform.

I have termux installed and running a  nslookup  command I could see it uses Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS server, which my DHCP is not sending.

By default Termux uses DNS form resolv.conf, not the DNS that android system uses.

I don't have a custom DNS server configured, but that's what I tested:

  • Went to Settings » Connections and Share » Private DNS - made sure it is off (it takes priority when set)
  • Went to Settings » WiFi » [My local network] » DNS1 and entered my router's IP

After that it started to use my ISP's DNS servers (preconfigured in router) instead of CloudFlare 1.1.1.1 (what was default on my android when connecting to WiFi

If many devs would switch to it just as they did with M3 Expressive, I'm gonna quit Android and go touch some grass instead.
