There's a bank here that refuses to let you log into their app if you have developer options enabled. Their service was getting much better until that point, but I dropped them completely after that.

I use developer options to get better screen density on my large ass screen, and to you know...develop apps 🤷‍♂️

FUCK THESE ASSHOLES WHO THINK THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND CAN NOT DO WITH MY PHONE

Dunno enough to know how well it'd work but I read a comment here the other day saying Canada and Mexico shouldn't retaliate with tariffs but instead opt out of their side of UMCA and just not uphold US IP laws. They could individually or together invest heavily into forming companies that provide cheaper alternatives to whatever crap US companies pull for recurring revenue. Stuff like legally mandating that phones have a local-made app store pre-installed, subsidizing or outright investing in really well made and well maintained jailbreaks, third party repairs, and third party spare parts for stuff like John Deere products, Apple produccts, Tesla products...pretty much eat the tariffs on exports to the US, don't retaliate with own tariffs so prices locally don't go up, but hurt US profits everywhere else by becoming a provider of cheaper but still reliable (probably more reliable tbh) alternatives to anything US.

I'm kinda disappointed that's not what's happening rn

Edit: USMCA, not NAFTA

The more I think about it, this may finally convince me to...shudders...switch to an iPhone. I've always stayed on Android because despite the recent Google bullshit, it still for the most part lets me do whatever. Side-loading apks is a huge part of that.

If it's turning into a shittier iOS clone, what's the point?

I know there's still a long way to go but maybe the future won't be as completely horrofying as I thought. Fuck the facists and fuck the nazis, well done France!

I used to pirate games because I couldn't buy them. Now I pirate games because the publishers are greedy cunts who do layoffs to appease shareholders, shutter studios that make good games, and pull all the shit Sony's pulling this year 🖕

As much as I hate Epic, I actually bought AW2 based on that logic but ended up refunding it because, and I can not stress this enough, FUCK ALWAYS ONLINE REQUIREMENTS ON PURELY OFFLINE GAMES. I refuse to pay for an offline game that locks me out when my internet isn't working...doubly so when the pirated version works perfectly fine without internet.

P.S. I also refuse to pay for single player games with arbitrary online "features" made to force a DRM check, or games published by cunts that do layoffs and shutter studios while posting record profits but that's a different conversation.

Those sites all have ridiculously low bitrates; way lower than I can personally tolerate. I've switched to torrenting everything at MUCH higher quality. Takes some effort to get good torrents and sometimes seeds are an issue but the end result is worth it. Thinking of getting a seedbox while I'm at it too.

This!

APK signatures exist and they're enough for making sure the file you got isn't modified. Warning people when they use apks for stuff like banking, I get, but if they wanna take the risk, it's on them.

Blocking root makes no sense because I'd argue that if the person knows enough to root their phone and got past all those bricked phone/thermonuclear war warnings, the onus is on them to not get their keychain compromised by giving root to some random app. Again, a warning is fine.

Aside from that, people need to understand: THE CLIENT IS NEVER SECURE. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Any self respecting secure API is made under the assumption that all the calls are coming from some malicious state actor using curl until proven beyond doubt that it's an actual user.

I put 1.2k hours into it during lockdown. Not enjoying Destiny 2 is probably the best thing that's ever happened to your wallet tbh

I'd rather games compile shaders on first run vs trying to do it during actual gameplay and stuttering like crazy tbh

All of this is okay, but it's not production ready. This is what real production code looks like:

SuckableFactory suckableFactory = new SuckableFactory();
Suckable balls = suckableFactory
    .setShape(SuckableShapes.round)
    .setCount(2)
    .create();

SuctionProvider mouth = SuctionProvider.getInstance();

SuckerFactory suckerFactory = new SuckerFactory();
Sucker sucker = SuckerFactory.create():

sucker.setSuctionProvider(mouth);
sucker.setSuckable(balls);
sucker.setIntensity(SuckerSuctionIntensities.medium);
sucker.suckSuckable();

A "Ubuntu LTS" option would be great here, yeah. It'd be next to impossible to support every distro and I get the feeling linux users who have distro preferences are also the type who would prefer to do it themselves.

Source: Me I guess. I'd rather setup Fedora myself

Yup that sounds about right for iOS.

Meant more that if Android ends up in the same boat (and by the looks of it, that's exactly what Google and Samsung want), then iOS starts to look viable because the situation becomes: all the same bullshit but iOS is polished to a shine.

Don't plan on switching phones until my less than year old Note 9 kicks the bucket 😅
