Seinfeld.
I fucking hate that word. It's not 'sideloading' to install on my own device what I want to install, to use the apps I want to use; to not use the apps I don't want to use. I am not 'sideloading' anything when I install programs on my PC. No different on my phone.
Fuck off with all these new bullshit terms that are only used to imply that what we're doing (with our own devices) is somehow outside the norm, to justify the constant enshittifcation and the growing stranglehold these corporations want on our lives. It's infuriating.
Jesus, what a nightmare story. That entire article is filled with horror. She must have felt so terrified and alone.
"After Caswell delivered her baby alone and lost consciousness, staff still refused to render aid and instead took photos of her baby without her consent, her lawyers allege. When she returned to the jail from the hospital, staff denied her access to her prescribed breast pump and ibuprofen."
Wtf is wrong with people? It's so fucking petty and mean. I'm gonna assume that none of the staff will actually face any consequences..?
I was reading the BBC live updates of the 'briefing' where Trump 'answered questions.' Starts at 17:21 if you scroll down.
Of course he blames it on DEI hires. He also blamed the helicopter and later said it was because of 'practicing.'
Why does he think it's DEI hires, you ask? Well, Trump answered, and I quote: "Because I have common sense, and unfortunately a lot of people don't."
What the actual fuck. Donald "I have common sense" fucking Trump. Lmfao.
And even if the girl was trans, she still shouldn't be bullying kids online. Jesus fuck, these people are so disgustingly pathetic.
Dramatic much? Canceling a subscription is 'the unthinkable' now? For fuck's sake.
Agreed. When I saw the Apollo thread, my first thought was 'Nah, not even spez would do this' but I choked on that very fast when I saw the e-mails, the audio recordings and everything. It was so blatant, so asinine, so horribly fucked up.
I've never used the Apollo app, but millions of people did and in stead of thanking him for all his work, reddit just stabbed him in the back. Can't believe there are people still taking reddit's side on this, it's crazy.
Fucking hell.
This was an execution.
The most annoying thing is that the "Trending Communities" section is filled with spam right now.
I think this does show an inherent current flaw with Lemmy. We need a way to report users through their profile. So far we can only report users when they comment, but this guy isn't commenting anywhere so there's no report button. Unless I'm missing something. :p
Why would blue states still pay into the federal government when they're not getting anything out of it anymore? Seems to me they're financing their own abusive relationship. I don't understand how this works. Aren't blue states the only reason these crappy red states are even still slightly functional?
I'm not American but it seems to me that collectively the blue states would hold a lot of power if they're the financial backbone of the country. Can't they swing their weight around a little?
How would this even work? How are they going to stop brigading, bots, low effort spam crap for upvotes, massive reposting, etc? How will this actually increase quality of content?
Also: this would mean giving reddit your actual information, right? How else are they going to pay you? Or are they going to try using crypto and nfts?
It sounds like a terrible idea to me, tbh. Maybe they should start with paid moderators to deal with all the extra spam, crossposting, brigading and bots that will result from this move.
I can't believe there are actually people who are surprised about his 'proposal' at all. Like.. everyone saw this coming, right? Plenty of people have been warning other people for years that Trump would do this sort of shit.
But hey, what do I know. I'm just an alarmist fearmonger. Or whatever they used to call me.
Barely anyone in this topic acknowledges the actual reason: They lied about not using genAI and were disqualified when the lie was revealed.
I'm very intolerant of behavior that tells me type of people they are. For example throwing garbage on the floor, or being unkind to serving staff, or something like that. Red flags for sure.
And of course there's the obvious stuff that is an instant deal breaker, like bigotry, being anti-vax, hating cats (or animals in general), right-wing politics, etc.
How does a person this fucking stupid become a CEO of any company? Jesus fucking Christ.
This is because we can be of two minds about these things. You can have a personal response to heinous acts, but still think the government ought to be better.
If some guy murders the murderer of their kid, I can absolutely 100% understand why, and I could even admit that I might do the same in their position. But I still think that as a society we should not lower ourselves to this standard and I will always be against the death penalty (especially because the system will never be perfect and I will never think it's worth killing even one innocent person by accident).
It's why vigilante justice is so easily understood, but it's still something we, as a society, shouldn't accept.
Emotional reactions can cloud our minds to these things. But I absolutely agree with you. This is horrendous and barbarous. I can still somewhat understand the "he deserves it for what he did"-response, but I'm absolutely against this on a deeper level.
Can I ask? Why does Musk suddenly have this authority? "DOGE" isn't even a real Department, right? And also, Musk hasn't been elected or officially confirmed for any government position. Why the fuck is he giving orders and leading departments and having any power whatsoever over the U.S. Treasury and such? I don't understand how this works. Why doesn't the U.S. have any... I don't know, safeguards against this sort of shit? It's absolutely bonkers to watch this unfold from across the pond.
Musk just walked up, said "I'm in charge now" and everyone's just complying? Please ELI5.
r/interestingasfuck still doesn't have moderators. It's been closed for 18 days now.
False claim? How about we call them lies? Trump is a liar. He lies.
A false claim implies it could be made with good intentions, simply out of ignorance. No. Trump lies. He lies maliciously.
How many lie-filled years need to pass before media call it what it is?
What superpower are you talking about? Don't be shy, please. Spell it out for us 'females.'
