I run my own mailserver in docker and it's not so hard! There was some difficulty at the start with mail going to spam, but after a little while "warming up" the IP with usage, it works fine. It's hardest to build an IP's reputation in the beginning because if your mail goes to spam, it doesn't typically lead to healthy conversations that can support it's history.

My trick was to forward all my incoming gmail messages from the account I was replacing into the new server - that way I could receive and reply from the new mailserver if people sent mail to the old one. Once it built up a bit of a history it started working fine, and that took maybe a few conversations over a couple of days.

The thing I have noticed is that you very quickly get destroyed by incoming spam - a more advanced filter is definitely on the list.

TLDR - Musk is still a prick (I didn't read it either)

I like: https://noai.duckduckgo.com/

I have them tagged as "absolute nutter" for this exact reason.

So I think something that's important to note is that most people aren't talking about trying to "fix" men - it's more about the systemic failings that allow anyone to think abusing women is okay. Those failings exist throughout society, and they need to stop.

So many women have faced rape and abuse throughout their lives and frankly, being a bit "prickly" about it is a measured response to that horror.

I love Organic Maps. Works on Android and IOS. Fully offline (maps predownload at first run) and all route calculation is locally computed so it's especially good for hiking or where signal is poor.

Only thing I miss is live traffic updates but for me that's an acceptable tradeoff for the ultimate offline privacy as far as a digital map can do it.

The voice it uses is whatever's built into the phone's accessibility features so on some devices it sounds a bit janky, but on Android at least you can install different ones if that bothers you.

Do you fancy giving it a go for an uneducated potato such as myself? Never heard of the MIT license hate before.

I love the amount of cycling infrastructure! I can go almost anywhere I'd regularly want without needing a vehicle. It's literally free, gets me around fast and improves my fitness all in one.

I flashed e/os to main and I love it! Automatic blocking of trackers. Clear notices when apps access hardware. Falsified GPS to a plausible location at the flip of a switch. It's still not perfect but it's a big step and very easy to install.

I think Graphene is similar?

I feel like I'm missing something here, but isn't knowing what's under the hood exactly the point of projects like Lemmy? The source is available on github, and they explain the algorithms or talk about their political bias pretty openly in most communities.

Were you thinking more from the angle of the way our social biases work as a group, or like the risk of maintainers tampering with the sauce pre-release?

I hope this didn't come across shitty - genuinely curious.

Yeah it's exactly that. And "Fork found in kitchen" is like saying "Is the pope catholic" or sarcastically "I'll alert the media" about stuff that really isn't surprising.

I love Session messenger as a decentralised solution, but man it sucks how little people want to change their habits

Genocide is bad and we shouldn't endorse it as a civilized society. It's not that complicated.

Curious as a to roughly what part of the world you're in? In the UK here and I love Okra, but the main reason I rarely buy it is because it's always really expensive where I find it. Honestly if I can find a good source of it I'm gonna have the best time.

Do you have any experience with Docker? I've been running a mail server myself without too much trouble. More than happy to help if you wanted similar.

Yeah, I do not miss rentals.

We fitted that reflective window film all around our place. It's dead cheap and passively cools the place by blocking UV and some other light. The ones that stick from "static cling" should peel off cleanly if you're worried about your landlord complaining? It made our place from uninhabitable to tolerable in an evening.

Also for anyone that's looking, if you're going for a portable air con, always go for one with two hoses! You can modify some to make them way cooler too.

This honestly doesn't sound like they're projecting at all - they speak of their own experience. I think they're upset because you've said that biological attributes would "disagree" with an honest insight into their life's experience.

Their mother - the person who acted in a motherly role in their life. The person who raised them, cared for them, helped them grow - is not product of biological attributes.

I'm so glad it's not just me that's had this lol. My laptop blackscreened after a house move and when I saw the GPU was offline I thought it didn't survive the journey.

Oh that's totally fair! Honestly it's been a really pleasant surprise? I thought I'd have to fight it but even the few Google apps I needed still worked without an issue. I've been gradually sunsetting them one by one and just removed the last one the other day.

I love Organic Maps for nav. The voice is a little clunky but everything is computed offline.

Did you want any help? Tech support is literally my job, lol. I've built an are stack + jellyfin, mailserver and home assistant before for what it's worth.

My experience of this is that is because Cura over extrudes the walls deliberately to help adhesion and strength - I want to say the setting is called "overlap". It's the one where the infil runs into the walls a little bit to tie together the edges, but that's always going to result in a bit more plastic being laid down in those areas.

Normally it causes a bit of a brim to cut off, but in your case it might just be enough to let it stick round the brim but nowhere else.
