No, they don't "fail basic science". They point out that there is a correlation and we need better studies, but the mere existence of the correlation is worrying, especially considering a lot of recent studies are confirming the link between cannabis and teen psychosis. A lot of the early studies on the harm of cigarettes started similarly. Correlation between lung cancer and smoking tobacco doesn't imply causation, but it's one hell of an alarm bell.
The author of the article themselves doesn't say cannabis is a gateway drug and even recognizes that asking people to just not use it isn't realistic.
Use the extension and fuck with advertiser algorithms in general. It works both as an Ad Blocker and adds fake clicks and ads. It even has a feature where they show how much economic damage you are causing per page.
There are other tools designed to screw with data collection, but this is by far my favorite.
Props to you for choosing being yourself even though it's hard!
My coming out was pretty messy too. I can only tell you that it gets better. You already have a good social safety net from what I can understand on your post, but I would recommend too that if you don't have already, start making new IRL trans friends. They are sure to help you navigate this moment.
Well, for starters, MPL wasn't anarchist-inspired, it's a coalition movement. Saying it's anarchistic would be like saying Pride is anarchistic due to the lack of a single formal leadership.
I've been in anarchist circles for years, and never, ever saw anyone mention the book "Change the World Without Taking Power". Most anarchists here are more inspired by older, classical works. I myself tend to critique them for not reading anything after 1950s.
And he must be referring to anarchists here when he talks about horizontalists, because the other political organizations in MPL are MLs, trotskyists, and maoists. What's insane is that the vast majority of the Brazilian radical left is marxist leninist and pretty much allergic to horizontalism. The reason they build coalitions is because they are in most cases weak and small, not a lack of authority.
As a Latin American, the US is the very last county I want to visit on the entire continent. Literally the only thing that I kind of want to see there is the Lego store in NYC.
How do anarchists propose handling public works, healthcare, etc?
Well, how we do it now?
During the Spanish Civil War, anarchists socialized many industries. What they found out was that you could just remove people from most management positions and continue work as before. Very rarely a manager was actually needed, and when it was they would simply elect one of themselves to fulfill the role for a while.
Talking about healthcare specifically, in many countries that have public healthcare, the system is already decentralized. Because it needs to be, otherwise they can't properly answer the demands from their communities. Again, you just need to remove pointless middle-men and other workplace hierarchies (like physicians being more important than nurses), and stuff tends to get better.
Anarchy is the only way to stop an asshole.
If you're an asshole in anarchism, you'll fuck your neighbor's life.
If you have a State or other giant hierarchy filling assholes with power, they will fuck everybody's life. Case in point: every single billionaire alive.
I don't disagree with your point in general, but this doesn't make much sense:
If people suffer from the collapse of harmful machinery, it is the fault of the machinery.
No one would have collapsed it if it was not harmful.
A lot of people depend on machines to stay alive, machines that do produce harmful impacts around the world (that may or may not be possible to reduce), like advanced medical equipment that is dependent on semiconductors.
As a disabled person myself, I prefer if no one has to die.
Am anarchist and never voted. I see voting as a very ineffective action at best.
With that being said, I don't vote because I have better shit to do. Not out of some principle or belief that I'm doing something effective by not voting.
I'm against taking part in a community based around refusal to vote, because the point of not voting should be passive. It should be "I'm already doing a lot of other more important shit to fight the State so why bother?" And not "I don't vote therefore I am having an impact".
Just like voting is damn near useless, organizing and campaigning around not voting is also pretty meh.
Edit: OP isn't doing a false flag. That's a pretty common view among anarchists. Especially offline.
I think you're confusing politics, which is related to collective decision-making, with culture.
I'd also argue that there really aren't apolitical people, even level 3 ASD people who can't speak or traditionally communicate at all. Our existence is always political and collective, even if we don't perceive it that way. There is no individual without society, to pretend otherwise is neoliberal ideology.
A meltdown in public due to bright lights is political, even if it isn't a conscious, intentional protest. Reality itself is socially constructed and political, and we ASD people aren't above or beyond it.
Of course, we miss some social rules or can't adapt well to them, but that doesn't mean they don't affect and shape us. I don't feel jealousy, I don't understand monogamy at all and I think it's kind if stupid to be honest. This does not stop me from putting in some of my partners very monogamous expectations based on time spent with me or other secondary things that only make sense in monogamy, because "that's how relationships work". Except that no, that's how monogamous relationships work, but the only kind of deep relationship we're presented are monogamous and there's a lack of other frames of reference.
Politics isn't something you can miss, because it is shoved down your throat from the moment you are born, even if you don't understand it. Actually scratch that, since even abortions are at stake.
The details I do know, based on Instagram posts from both CNT Barcelona and their opposition, is that:
Yeah, but ecological damage isn't about CO2. It's about global ecosystem collapse. Reforestation helps stopping damage to local wildlife, keep bees alive, etc. If we focus only on CO2 we run the risk of falling into technocratic strategies of minimaxing it's mitigation. All that while ignoring what we are trying to preserve in the first place.
Trees also help lowering local temperature, and a small but significant part of that carbon will be absorbed by fungi and stored bellow the Earth. And with diversity, they can provide resources for communities such as fruits, teas, and other good stuff.
