What's the right way to protest, in your mind, from the position of the mods and users who can't control other subs?

I'm happier off Reddit than on at this point protest or not, even though I've been there from nearly the start. Unless they reverse course on this recent heading, it's not a place I want to stay.

I already have to heavily curate my reddit experience to have a good time there. I rather smaller communities like this, and I don't want to spend my time on the official forums for things like this due to how they go.

I'm used to an internet where I used lots of different sites and have different accounts for things. It has upsides.

If I really want to read something that's only on Reddit I can go read it and participate elsewhere.

Protests haven't changed their mind?

Reddit before:

  • The protest won't do anything
  • We won't remove mods
  • Users will democratically decide to reopen
  • Our revenue won't be impacted

Reddit now:

  • Banning some mentions of alternatives
  • Removing mods participating in protest/reopening subs if any singular mod agrees
  • Three huge subs have reopened, democratically voted (overwhelmingly) to continue protesting by becoming John Oliver fanclubs
  • Incoherent rants about landed gentry and MUH MONEYS

If you want a warframe subreddit back, make your own. No one's stopping you. Go ahead and do all the work to set the sub up and run it.

Otherwise, you're welcome here. You've already made an account. Just contribute instead of complaining.

I'm a developer too.

I pay for my API usage, as I should.

It's priced reasonably, and the companies selling me that usage don't spread lies about me in private and in public.

I'm also a very long term Reddit user, and I'm completely aware of why Reddit exists. It's us. It's the content we make. It's the time we take to moderate our communities. We made this content before, we put it in usenet and irc and forums. We can put it back there.

The instant tell for me, from the start, is that having Premium didn't let you use 3rd party apps.

Well, aside from the CEO's behavior, anyway.

Why is this whole profit thing a question? Premium is literally "Pay us instead of seeing ads" and it doesn't matter which frontend is using those resources if you've paid for them.

It would have solved all the theoretical problems, but not only didn't reddit offer it, they rejected it. Totally disingenuous. They don't want normal profit and money to run the servers, they want complete control over access to the content we generate, and all the metadata around that.

I'm being just as active here as I was there.

There's more friction to join Reddit than there is to join dormi.zone at this point.

Unlike a lot of Reddit, r/warframe doesn't really rely on the historical contents as much since we have the wiki, the official forums, the official discord, and the other discord.

I've loved Reddit for nearly as long as it has existed, but nothing lasts for ever.

It's way past time for DE to make that information (inventory, account statistics) available to us directly.

They can just dump a json file where EE.log is when we log in.

You have the perfect opportunity to make a sub and run it. It should fill up quickly with the vast majority of users like you! Everyone wins. This would not be the first time a secondary sub has popped up to resolve disagreements with a previous mod team.

Use an extension that redirects you to archives of posts if you want to see old posts.

Or just wait until Reddit shows their full colors and forces all protesting subs to open.

Programming, my friend. It solves big rule-based problems pretty well.

I am surprised people evaluate guns on SP without one of the arcanes equipped, they're such a big damage increase.

Infected clip (toxin) and hellfire (heat) combine to make Gas. Gas is a very finicky element, you might want to consider toxin and electricity for Corrosive, which is very strong against armor, the first thing that will probably slow you down. Or just Toxin if you are fighting corpus, because it bypasses their shields.

I wouldn't worry about following builds this early unless you start having problems. Build weapons like the Hek and Atomos, they're great fun. Level up your main damage mods (serration/hornet strike/point blank/pressure point)

Multishot is important, getting it would be good (There's one for rifles, shotguns, and pistols) https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Split_Chamber - it doesn't look like it drops from spy missions though.

Haha, yeah, it do be like that.

It's fun though. The upside is I have plenty of options if I want to kill just as much stuff. So I can use it some, and then I can go use other things.

Still a huge fan of the Sepulcrum, and it delivers whenever I need a heavy hitter.

It's relatively trivial to access the actual API, the way the game and app do.. It's just not hardened in any way and gets you banned the instant they notice.

Yep. I dislike the layers upon layers of RNG that are "fixed" by a toxic marketplace.

Shards are a much better system. I would rather we get a version that works on weapons and have Rivens replaced.

Manually assign slot counts and/or types to weapons. Yes, it would take a day or two of someone who has thoroughly played the game going through and assigning them, but it's better than the dynamic system.

Worst case, assign slots based on disposition and refund socketed shards if it goes down.

All useful stuff, looking forward to it.

Not all the stuff it needs, but it'll get more work.

A local password manager, eg KeePass, is easy to use. At most basic, think of it like a spreadsheet that you save with a password. Managers add a bunch of features on top of that basic concept.

  1. You start it, you create a big password/phrase to encrypt it with (This is probably the hardest part, write it down somewhere until you're confident remembering it)
  2. Record your existing accounts
  3. Create new accounts and/or update old passwords with new randomized (you can customize how) passwords, meaning each account has a password that can be breached without consequence
  4. Your database file, since it is encrypted, can be stored in a cloud provider for backup/easy access
  5. Improve integration with your browser or phone with extensions or apps that can read the database you made (For KeePass, there's a few of each. I use KeePassium on iOS)

That might be an improvement, but the community and third party app creators (myself included) have really wanted this data to be available to make better tools for users.

Warframe gets it all when you log in, it just needs to dump it to a json file when it gets it.
