Making sick people work is terrible for productivity...

Not everything is about productivity, sheesh. Sometimes you just want to emiserate the poor for the joy of it.

Them ignoring this basic capitalistic consideration just goes to prove without shadow of a doubt (in case anyone still had any) that this is 100% the cruelty is the point.

I could see Rishi Sunak's takeaway from this being that of course, people should be paid less for days when they're sick.

What a sick fuck that he actually thinks this is a problem and not a symptom of systemic failures. The only people this will punish is the poor - cuz when you make enough money and say youre sick and go golfing NO ONE FUCKING CARES. but if youre poor and actually sick your boss is probably a dickbag who forces you to get a note and will probably still challenge the shit out of you

Telling the poor to pull their own weight while cutting taxes for billionaires.

Typical.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
