Fine with me. Just don't make average citizens have to pay to bail out the rich investors who aren't making a bunch of money off of their commercial real estate deals.

Some of the cities themselves are helping to push companies to return to office. They are losing tax money from the commercial real estate and money from people that would do shopping while down town.

So we do get to help bail them out. Because they built their economy on mandated office work.

Also reasons most governments have no interest in fixing the housing pricing issue. They collect more property taxes the higher it sells for, it’s in their interest to make sure it keeps increasing.

Why do you hate socialism for rich people?

It's the only good kind of socialism! Our owners told us so when they promised to rain down golden showers of prosperity on us little poorie capital batteries... at some point in the future... half a century ago...

Developers and building owners are waiting for government handouts. They won't budge unless they're making premium returns. They'll keep saying "it's too hard and expensive" until they get what they want.

We need to pass a law stating that if a building isn't in use for a percentage of a year then the property taxes go up like 4-fold. Sitting on empty buildings and especially homes should be criminal. They can either improve and re-sell the property or pay out the nose.

This is the way. They keep inflation up yo punish you for holding cash. Time to punish those holding excess property

Yup. Much like workers can strike by withholding their labor, capitalists strike by withholding their capital. There will never be an equitable solution to the housing crisis in our current system. We will continue to rot until the gov concedes to the wealthy. And even then a sizeable portion of us will continue to suffer

In before anti car folks complain about this. Im anti car myself but I have no clue why others want to limit parking. I want cars parked myself. I have known folks who drive around an area again and again, looking for parking. When they do the parking requirment it should be permanently attached to the units though. To many for sale parking spots in my city and condos that come with no parking natively. People should be able to put whatever they want in the space do as long as it stays within the boundaries and is not dangerous (incoming cars are dangerous comment. I can feel the force.).

Unfortunately this is driving companies back into the office. Like another user said, in office work encourages people to shop in those local areas on break/after work and state governments give huge tax breaks to corporations utilizing the office space. It's the sole reason my company forced us back into the office 2 days a week. Greed to get those tax breaks even if productivity falls.

You've got to think of the bigger picture, yes everyone that works in an office will have less time with their family, there will be less traffic on the roads, etc but it's a small sacrifice because keeping everyone in offices will allow a small group of very rich property owners to continue making absurd sums of money far beyond what anyone could ever need or spend.

Also it keeps the "libs" in small contained areas in states that were gonna vote blue regardless.

Imagine if all work was remote and we all moved to rural? All that gerrymandering means shit if the libs start buying farm houses everywhere.
