It’s really sad how far ahead of its time the PSP was. It came out over 10 years before the switch but did not achieve the same success. I have some great memories with my PSP but many people seem quick to disregard it

I mean you could put the GBA below the PSP. Nintendo just moved towards the DS concept when Sony experimented.

Even worse is the Vita, it was basically the PSP perfected.

That’s what I was thinking when that person wrote that. Vita was a lot better than PSP, but a fantastic handheld. At my age and with my gaming habits, I don’t really need a handheld I can fit in my pocket, so I’m more of a Deck guy now. Comfort-ability trumps all to me.

True, the deck is outstanding.

I do wish for another vita sized handheld, though.

I loved the PSP so much, and the Vita was a remarkable improvement on the idea - but I think a combination of timing, a lack of EU/US releases, and the failure of the PS3 doomed the Vita to fail.

and the expensive proprietary memory cards didn't help I think

"Generations" implies they're from the same family (company). Would be better to show the evolution of the DS > DS Lite > etc.

But you wouldn't compare a gen 2 aircraft carrier and a gen 3 F-16...

The psp was and still is an amazing machine. I remember being so excited when I bought my first 1 gigabyte sd card because I could store so many save files on there. It had wifi capabilities and fit in my pocket. Truly remarkable for the price and the time.

Same journey for me too. Hacked my PSP and my Switch. It's really amazing that Valve made a device that is open and allows running whatever you want. It's so refreshing. After years of locked down handhelds, I don't have to risk bricking my console to run the software I want.

My PSP was my smartphone before they really existed. It kick-started my terrible habit of internet browsing in bed.

I miss the time playing Monster Hunter with friend on a PSP. And don't forget the NDS too.
