What could you expect from a company named after the Palantír?
New name was of course - INTegrated ELectronics, or Intel for short. The fact that "intel" was the term for intelligence information was also quite suitable, but that name was already taken by some hotel chain in the mid-west. In the end, Moore & Noyce Electronics bought the name from the chain and renamed itself Intel Corporation.

Edit: I met a Russian expat in SE Asia, I don't know how correct what he says is, but he's in IT like me and runs his own org, and he says that Russia is ridiculously surveilled with cameras with advanced facial recognition that will easily identify you in spite of disguises like masks or sunglasses or basically anything you try, he says they have absolute control over who and where people are at any given time, and that's where the US is heading full speed.

This shit is suddenly everywhere. It's so dystopian seeing these cameras on every road.
I wanna see people who live near them take a super soaker full of very salty water to the lens. Have fun identifying plates after that, have fun sending your tech out with a paper towel and scratch up the lens by trying to clean it.

You have plenty in politics. Special interests (mainly but not exclusively the rich) have seen to it that the American electorate would never make any of them president. Billionaires don't buy news and media outlets because they love honest journalism.

Yeah, Steve is about as non-smug and non-jerk as I've seen in this space.
I like GN but Steve is definitely a little smug at times, but he's earned it considering how often he's correct.
And Steve is willing to correct himself if he’s not right and not double down on being wrong
I think that's mostly for the camera. He seems like a really down to earth guy.
