Foregone Destruction (Facing Worlds) - Unreal Tournament

3 years ago by Fizz to c/music

Take it back to 1999 with Foregone Destruction, a track well known to any Unreal Tournament player.

Damn I get chills even seeing the thumbnail.

So many good times on this map, love it. Getting ridiculous kill streaks by sniping on the side of the building. Playing translocator only and trying to teleport into people to kill them. Man the early days of PC gaming were something else.

I actually never played unreal tournament but I love the soundtrack so much that it makes me want to go back and play some multiplayer matches. I found some people who play on occasions so I am gonna join next time they play.

Many people, including me, just played vs bots and kept sniping bots from the top of the tower.

I don't think its aged well.

This game looked incredible for the time and introduced a rail gun sniper rifle you could one shot kill people with.

This map let you camp out and be a sniper but it was possible to overwhelm the sniper so the game stayed fluid and teams had to support their sniper.

Quake, HL2 Deathmatch, Counterstrike had similar weapons but quickly filled with people who could launch themselves 100ft in the air and headshot someone half a map away through a window which is why single shot weapons faded out of FPS games.

If you try multiplayer on some of these games, the skill level of opponents is even higher, they know every trick and execute them flawlessly. This destroys the reason the map was so good.

Playing the sniper in 4 player borderlands story is probably the closest you would get to the original experience.

I would pilot the redeemer under the map, come up and through their base before detonating in their spawn point. The number of Mega kills I got off that was ridiculous.

Oh yeah, I could hear that before I clicked anything. There were some earworms in that game for sure (for me anyways). Phobos Moon is another one that I think about sometimes. I'd join that map just to listen to that for a bit.

I've gone ahead and started watching a gameplay video on youtube to get the whole package of sounds and visuals just for the nostalgia!

Oh man the nostalgia!

For me, nostalgia wise of course, gaming was Mario bros 1,3,4, Doom, Command & conquer, age of empires, Unreal Tournament, Zelda Ocarina of time, Diablo 1,2, Smash Bros (64, Game cube) and Halo (1,2). Good shit!
