My Nixie clock my dad fixed and built a case for

a year ago by stoy to c/retrotechnology

Back in 2011 I was working my first job and I bought a #nixie tube clock kit from Velleman, it was a great learning experience and fun to get access to real nixie tubes, sadly I didn't buy or make a case for it, and when I brought it to work to show it off, I touched the high voltage power rails for the tubes which caused my arm to spasm and fling the clock on the floor which broke it. Since the tubes seamed to be whole, I kept it for 14 years in a box full of other stuff, but this year me and my dad took a look at it to see if we could fix it. My dad is a much better electronics engineer than I am and he figured out the issue and got it working, and for my birthday he presented me with this gorgeous case made out of a piece of wood complete with rerouted electrical connections and control switch. I love it, we both built it and I am soo happy for it! #Sweden #Europe #InteriorDesign #Electronics #NixieClock #NixieTube #Family #AmazingDad #Woodworking
