Trump, in an Escalation, Calls for Republicans to ‘Nationalize’ Elections

8 months ago by silence7 to c/politics

The comments, made on a conservative podcast, follow a string of moves from his administration to try to exert more control over American elections.

Probably has something to do with ICE causing a 30-point swing towards Democrats in a Texas State Senate race.

NY Times, you sack of shit, the word you're looking for is "an act of treason," not "an escalation."

Really goes to show how much a stranglehold the profit machine of capitalism has on the media entities through advertisements and marketing.

Advertising and marketing should be the 8th and 9th deadly sin, respectively.

"We need to nationalize the elections so we can more easily rig them so that they can't rig them!"

They should be careful throwing around words like "nationalize" or us proles will get ideas

Elections won't save you, not electing Trump just means someone else would get the bribes and immunity, which is something he would rather avoid.

Oh cool, good to know the shameless fucks who both sides'd in 2024 and helped get us into this mess still have no shame and are here to help make the 2026 midterms worse too.

Oh you mean the accelerationists who insisted we keep a geriatric, unelectable Biden as the candidate as early as 2023? Those shameless fucks who set this all up for failure?

the accelerationists who insisted we keep a geriatric, unelectable Biden

so you got a geriatric trump with dementia instead filling his nappies at every live bill signing.

No one elected Stephen Miller, like no one elected Adolph Hitler.

Jesus fucking christ this is such a pathetic, sociopathic , delusioned, idiotic take. This take and those who present 2024 as if it was a binary are the principal individuals responsible for Trumps return to power. Period. End of discussion. History is written. Trump was one of the least popular candidates in all time, and liberals whose control of the party and exclusion of any other voices but white moderates. How Biden governed lost him all the states necessary to win the election and Harris refused to explicitly change course.

Trump isn't the lefts responsibilities: Its the shit libs who apologized, excused, and advocated for the paucity which was to be Bidens second term. These same people refuse to engage with a working definition of how elections work. Any one apologizing for Biden or blaming the left for Trump is trying to obscure the fact that they are an escort for fascism.

Sigh. Okay, vote still, whatever, but please consider building alternatives to the economic systems in place and stronger, ideally self-sufficient communities.

Pretty sure we can do both things. Like, it's not an either or situation. We can combat the failures of the system with the rules laid out in that system while also championing local level improvements

Who are you voting for, out of curiosity? A group of people who have been known to be bought by capitalists or some other party? And do you think that group could reach power even if they did win?

No, thinking that the same system that put you here (amongst other things like an ideological and moral vacuum) will in any way serve your interests is silly and a waste of time. Same with protests in America tbh (the biggest protest ever in Burgerland was the one against the Iraq/Afghanistan wars IIRC and that shit still happened, lol): you're allowed to do so so you feel like you're doing something, but the people in power have the guns and a third of the country if not more is complete human garbage who are more than happy to enforce state power even if it means shooting their neighbour in the face. Remember: it's an empire built on slave labour, the founding fathers were white supremacist rapists, so no, nothing is new and the system is working as intended, people were just willfully ignorant until the empire came for them too, and now they're panicking.

Thank you – the person I replied to – for actually being the only reasonable reply. I profoundly agree with anticapitalism and self-sufficient, grassroots communities (of which I participate actively in several), and I appreciate that solely voting is no longer a viable strategy. I just don't like your defeatist message tacitly saying that people shouldn't vote because anyone else would still be bad and/or part of a flawed system. We have to acknowledge that Trump has proven himself a uniquely horrifying threat to humanity, and that has to be reflected at the ballot box in 2026 and 2028.

I don't think he's the reason for things. The American empire has been in blatant decay for a decade now (due to corruption at every level, mostly) and other countries have been rising as regional powers. The anational capitalists who control America and have politicians of both sides of the false dichotomy/bad cop good cop routine in their pockets understand they have to play a different game than the one championed by the MIC if they want to maximise profits. As such, America will change from a heavily propagandised, hedonistic and amoral consumer base and arm of Western imperialism to a heavily propagandised slave base and arm of anational global capitalism. You just can't exploit foreigners as easily as you could before. Donald Trump, the great white hope, the comedian, is simply the right man for the job so he was supported by everyone except the neocons/MIC dickriders (Biden is here) because everyone benefits from American collapse (the Russians and Chinese included, ofc, not just American oligarchs) besides the American population. And this happened not because Trump cast a spell on people but because enough Americans are stupid, amoral, self-centered and overall horrible human beings, that's all. All your villains are your neighbours! You're not getting colonized by an external power, you're getting colonized by Bob and Jimmy, lol. So no, Trump is not the reason, the people, the state of the American empire and the desire of the global controllers of financialised capital are. Trump is just the distraction and scapegoat, a distracting and disorienting clown, the actor given the lines he needs to say to keep spinning it all.

And, btw, nothing that's happening in America is even 1% of what it has done outside of it, or what it did to the natives and Africans. Expect more, because the empire has learned well, throughout the years and "different" administrations. This is nothing but the empire going hungry and cannibalising itself because those it used to feed upon can now fight a little.

And, finally, If you're just gonna pass the ball to the Dems because you think "well, at least when they were in power the deaths and uncertainty were happening mostly outside than in" you're both silly and immoral. This project will continue, there's no stopping this train, because the people truly in power have enough money to buy any politician and the blue ones don't have any more morals than the red ones, they're just whores waiting for a good payday. At least tell me you're going to vote for a group with proven morals and no support from big corporations and asset management firms (if they exist). 🥲

Why are you blaming disenfranchised people? They have no representation in government.

How about biden helping out trump by handling his sedition with tiny baby hands.

Democrats are owned by the same corporations as Republicans. all they do is fix nothing, and normalize whatever the Republicans are doing. they are also responsible for this mess.
