Australia has recorded its first death from mammalian meat allergy. How common is it?

Jeremy Webb's death in 2022 from a tick-induced red meat allergy is the first to be recorded in Australia. Here's what we know about mammalian meat allergy and how to avoid it.

So there’s nothing in Australia that isn’t actively trying to kill you including the steak

IIRC, the allergy comes from a tick bite, not something inherent to the steak. Once you are allergic, you are allergic to all mammalian meat. I'll look it up and edit with a link.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's right in the posted article.

There are ticks in the northeastern (I believe) US which transmit the same allergy, not sure if it's the same species of tick.

It's not just Australia.
